Itinerary
- Day 1
Edinburgh to Grantown-on-Spey
This morning you'll start at Edinburgh Bus Station and head north through Fife to Lindores Abbey Distillery, where Scottish whisky actually got its start. From there, the route takes you into Cairngorms National Park with a lunch stop in Braemar. After eating, you'll visit the Whisky Castle for a tasting of three Speyside malts, then settle into your accommodation in Grantown-on-Spey for the next two nights. You'll cover some beautiful terrain and get your first real taste of what makes Scottish whisky special.

Grantown-on-Spey
Today focuses on Speyside's whisky heritage. You'll start at Cardhu Distillery, which was founded by Helen Cumming, a pioneering woman distiller, and sample four drams including two pulled straight from the cask. Lunch happens in Aberlour, and then you'll head to Speyside Cooperage to see how whisky barrels actually get made. Next comes a tour of Speyburn Distillery with tastings of whiskies aged in different types of casks. If there's time before you return to your accommodation, you might stop at Sueno's Stone, an impressive Pictish standing stone that's been around for centuries.

Grantown-on-Spey to Edinburgh
You'll begin with a whisky and chocolate tasting masterclass at Dalwhinnie Distillery high in the Cairngorms mountains, then head south to Pitlochry, a nice Perthshire town where you can browse shops and grab lunch at a café. After that, you'll walk through the Hermitage forest among tall Douglas firs and see a cascading waterfall. The final whisky experience happens in the quaint village of Dunkeld before heading back to Edinburgh. You'll pass the impressive South Queensferry bridges on the drive back, and the tour ends at 18:30.
