    · April 24th, 2019
We went on a 25 days Vietnam and Cambodia Tour from 25th March to 18th April 2019. Overall the tour is good but we do have some complains to make. First the two nights trip to Sa Pa, we were not met by a tour director just the tour guide. On the first day we were to leave for Sa Pa at 8am, this guide turned up an hour late giving the excuse his bike broke down on the way giving no apologies. Secondly the bus that took us on a 5 hour journey to Sa Pa is ill equipped with many seats without safety belts. The ride to Sa Pa was bad especially for those sitting at the back. We arrived at Sa Pa at 2.30pm, instead of sending us straight to the restaurant for late lunch, the guide took us to the hotel, checkin and then use the hotel motor cart to send us to the restaurant and by the time food arrived it was 3pm. The next day the coach got us all in the coach at the hotel and then stopped at a petrol station to fill us. Can the driver fill up before picking us at the hotel? Thirdly at the third restaurant which suposedly specialised in BBQ, we were served half cooked chicken and pork, sent back to recook and still came out not fully cooked. After the third we were interested to eat. Another thing this restaurant didn't even served water. We have to pay for all drinks including water. At Hanoi on arrival we have half day and the next whole day before meeting the tour director were all on free time. First time I ever experienced one and a half day free in the midst of touring. APT should at least organise some activity. Next at Hoi An, the dinner at Home Restaurant was average and quantity served were for 4 persons but it wasn't enough even for two small eaters. The restaurant chosen has a very steep staircase to the upstairs and most of APT travellers are mostly elderly. We have a meal on our own next day at Morning Glory and the food we ordered were excellent and more than sufficient and the cost just A$10 per head. In comparison the meal at Home Restaurant must have cost APT just A$2, Other than these complains the trip was enjoyable and accommodation were excellent. Food on the RV Amalotus were fabulous. The local tour guides were very knowledgeable and professional.
