Itinerary
- Day 1
Luxor West Bank
Your guide picks you up from your Luxor hotel, station, or airport early morning to head to the West Bank. You'll walk through the Valley of the Kings to see where pharaohs built their tombs carved into the rock, then move on to the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut with its distinctive terraced design. There's a photo stop at the Colossi of Memnon, those two massive stone statues standing alone in the desert. By noon you're back at the cruise for lunch, and in the afternoon you'll have tea on deck while sailing down the Nile. The boat passes through the Esna Lock (it takes a couple hours), and you overnight in Edfu.

Edfu - Kom Ombo - Aswan
After breakfast, you take a horse carriage ride to the Temple of Horus in Edfu, which is one of the best preserved temples from ancient Egypt. Back on the cruise, you can relax and watch the landscape from deck as the boat sails toward Kom Ombo. Lunch happens on board, followed by afternoon tea. In the late afternoon you visit the Temple of Kom Ombo, unusual because it's dedicated to two gods at once (Sobek the crocodile and Horus the falcon), and the architecture reflects this dual purpose. Return to the cruise for dinner, catch a folkloric entertainment show, and then sail overnight toward Aswan.

Abu Simbel - Aswan
You'll head out around 4:30 AM for the trip to Abu Simbel on a shared minibus with other travelers. The drive takes a few hours, but when you arrive, you see the two massive rock-cut temples built for King Ramesses II and Queen Nefertari. The temples are carved right into the mountainside with enormous carved figures at the entrance. You explore both temples and learn about the famous rock relocation project that saved them from flooding. The drive back to Aswan takes you through the afternoon, arriving around 2:00 to 2:30 PM.
