Itinerary
- Day 1
Cairo to Alexandria
Your hotel pickup happens at 7:00 am for the drive to Alexandria, which takes about three and a half hours covering roughly 220 km. Once you arrive, the day focuses on Alexandria's historical highlights. You'll start at the Catacomb of Kom El-Shoqafa, one of the city's most significant archaeological sites, then move on to the Roman Theater. The Alexandria Library is next on your route, offering a chance to see this modern reconstruction of the ancient institution. From there, you'll get photo opportunities at Qaitbay Citadel, a 15th-century fort right on the waterfront, and the Unknown Soldier memorial. You'll pass by Al Mursi Abu Alabbas mosque from outside (no entry). After that, a free walk along the Cornish lets you experience the waterfront at your own pace and grab lunch if you'd like. The afternoon wraps up at Montaza Gardens, where you can see the royal palaces and check out the beaches. By evening, you'll head back toward Cairo for the return drive.
