Itinerary
- Day 1
Sandakan
Your flight gets you into Sandakan, and from there it's a transfer straight to your hotel. Once you've checked in and settled into your room, the rest of the day is yours to do as you like. Some people prefer to just relax and adjust to the time zone, but if you're feeling up for it, the jungle plank road nearby makes for a nice casual walk to get your legs moving after traveling.

- Day 2
Sandakan
This is a full day of wildlife centers, starting early at the Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary where you'll catch the morning feeding session with the distinctive long-nosed monkeys. After that, you'll head to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre and walk the wooden boardwalk through the jungle canopy to watch the orangutans in their natural setting. The day wraps up with a stop at the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre to round out your sanctuary visits.

- Day 3
Sandakan to Sukau
Take the morning at a relaxed pace, then around midday you'll board a boat for a 2.5-hour journey down the Kinabatangan River heading toward Sukau Village. Once you reach your lodge and get settled in, you'll freshen up before heading back out on an afternoon river safari to look for birds and other wildlife along the water. Back at the lodge by evening, dinner is served by candlelight and your naturalist guide will give an informative talk with slides about the local animals and forest.

- Day 4
Sukau
Up early for a river cruise heading upstream on the Kinabatangan toward Kelenanap Oxbow Lake, then after breakfast your guide takes you on an informative walk along the Hornbill Boardwalk. The afternoon brings an Orangutan Talk session where you'll learn details about Borneo's wildlife and conservation efforts. The day closes with another evening river cruise to search for animals as the light fades.

Sukau
Rise before dawn for a second morning boat safari, this time on the Menanggol River, scouting for wildlife in the early light. Back at the lodge after breakfast, the middle of the day is unscheduled so you can rest or walk the jungle boardwalk trails around the property if you prefer staying active. An evening river cruise gives you one last chance to spot wildlife before the trip wraps up.

Sukau to Sandakan
After breakfast you'll take a ferry back to the Sandakan jetty, and from there it's a transfer to the airport for your flight home or onward to wherever you're headed next.
