Edinburgh
You'll arrive in Edinburgh and meet your Travel Director along with fellow travelers at a local restaurant for dinner. Depending on your departure date, there's also a chance to catch The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle, which features pipes, drums, dance and pageantry all set against the floodlit castle.

Edinburgh
A Local Expert guides you through Edinburgh's highlights, starting with the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the official Scottish residence of the King. You'll drive along Princes Street to see the Scott Memorial, then walk through the 18th century New Town with its neoclassical Georgian facades. Head up the Royal Mile to Edinburgh Castle for a look at Mons Meg and Scotland's Crown Jewels. The afternoon is free, so you might check out the art at the National Gallery or explore on your own.

Edinburgh to Pitlochry
After crossing the Firth of Forth into Fife, you'll reach St. Andrews, the home of golf since the 15th century. Free time lets you walk to West Sands Beach where the 'Chariots of Fire' scene was filmed, or visit St. Andrews University where the current Prince and Princess of Wales met. Later, you'll pass through Blair Atholl and the Grampian Mountains on your way to Spey Valley. Stop at Atholl Palace and Gardens for a traditional cream tea with sandwiches, scones, shortbread and tablet.

Pitlochry to Wick
This morning brings a scenic drive along Loch Ness where you might spot the famous monster. You'll visit Culloden Battlefield, site of the 1746 defeat of Bonnie Prince Charlie's Jacobite army, and check out the Culloden Visitor Center. With Brendan Choice, head to the fishing port of Wick. You can pick between visiting the Old Pulteney Distillery to taste award-winning whisky or joining a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER Experience at the Wick Heritage Museum to learn about this former fishing community.

Orkney Islands
You'll board a ferry to the Orkney Islands where the countryside has a quiet, unhurried feel. Your Travel Director takes you to a small chapel built by Italian prisoners during World War II, then explores the old Norse Town of Kirkwall. Later you'll see the 5000-year-old village of Skara Brae and the mysterious Ring of Brodgar.

Orkney Islands to Isle of Skye
Travel through northern coastal landscapes with white sandy beaches, then move inland past misty valleys, glens, lochs and rushing water. After that, you're heading 'Over the Sea to Skye', the largest and most beautiful island of the Inner Hebrides. On the way to Broadford, you'll hear stories about Flora MacDonald helping Bonnie Prince Charlie escape and see the dramatic Cuillin Hills.

An orientation drive shows you grand public buildings like George Square and St. Mungo's Cathedral. Afterward, the rest of the afternoon is yours to spend as you like.
