- Day 1
Arrival in Chennai
Your Alkof Holidays representative will meet you at Chennai airport and transfer you to your hotel. After checking in, the rest of the day is yours to settle in and rest up before things get going.

Chennai Exploration
Following breakfast, you'll head out to see Chennai's coastal side with stops at Marina Beach, the Marina Lighthouse, San Thome Church, and Kapaleeshwara Temple. This gives you a good sense of India's fourth-largest city and its cultural importance.

Kanchipuram and Mahabalipuram
After breakfast, the drive takes you to Kanchipuram first, known as the City of 1000 Temples, where you'll see Kamakshi Amman Temple, Kanchi Kailasanathar Temple, Varadaraja Perumal Temple, and Ekambareswar Temple. From there, continue to Mahabalipuram to check out UNESCO World Heritage sites like the Pancha Rathas, Cave Temples, Descent of the Ganges, and Shore Temple.

Thanjavur
The morning drive takes you to Thanjavur, South India's cultural center for religion and art. You'll walk through the Great Living Chola Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with Brihadeeswara Temple being the main attraction. The city is also known for Tanjore painting, a traditional art form you can learn about.

Thanjavur and Kumbakonam

Later in the afternoon, head to Kumbakonam to visit the Airavatesvara Temple (UNESCO World Heritage), Adi Kumbeswarar Temple, and Nageswaraswamy Temple, all showcasing early Chola architecture.

Trichy and Madurai
After breakfast, you'll drive toward Madurai with a stop in Trichy along the way. There you can see Rock Fort Temple with views from the top, Jambukeshwara Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, and Srirangam Temple, one of South India's largest Vaishnavite temples. By evening, settle into Madurai for the night.

Madurai Exploration
Following breakfast, spend the day exploring Madurai's heritage starting with Sree Meenakshi Amman Temple and its ornate gopurams and carvings. You'll also visit Thirupparankundram Murugan Temple (one of Lord Murugan's six sacred spots), the Gandhi Museum, and Thirumalai Nayakkar Palace. Finish with a quiet afternoon at Vandiyur Mariamman Teppakulam, a temple pond.
