- Day 1
Santiago
You'll arrive at Santiago airport and get settled into your hotel before meeting your guide for a city tour. The tour takes you through the historic colonial center and the modern parts of the city, with the Andes mountains providing a dramatic backdrop the whole time.

Santiago to San Pedro de Atacama
After flying from Santiago to Calama, you'll drive through the Atacama Desert to reach San Pedro de Atacama. There's a quick orientation walk around town, and then in the evening you head out to Valle de la Luna to catch the sunset over the salt and rock formations while snow-capped volcanoes sit on the horizon.

San Pedro de Atacama
You'll visit the 12th century fortress of Pukarán de Quitor, located about 3 km north of town, where ancient Atacamenos and Incas once lived. Later in the afternoon, you'll go to the Salar de Atacama salt lake where you can see flamingos and other birds at Laguna Chaxa.

San Pedro de Atacama
Head out early to the Tatio geysers where fountains shoot up around 10 meters high as the sun melts the overnight ice at over 4,300m altitude. You'll have the option to swim in natural pools despite the minus 5°C/23°F temperature, then return to San Pedro for lunch.

San Pedro de Atacama to Puerto Varas
You'll transfer to Calama Airport, fly via Santiago to the lake district, and arrive in Puerto Montt. After a quick city tour and a look at the Angelmo fish and handicraft market, you'll head to Puerto Varas. This town sits on Llanquihue Lake with snow-capped volcanoes rising in the distance.

Puerto Varas
From Puerto Varas, you'll spend the day taking in views of Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes along Llanquihue Lake. You'll check out the wild Saltos de Petrohue waterfalls, then board a boat for a scenic ride along Lago Todo los Santos. Before the day ends, there's an optional chairlift up Osorno volcano for views from the summit.

Torres del Paine National Park
Your guide takes you through Torres del Paine National Park with views of the Torres Peaks, Torres Massif, and Lago Gray. You'll do some shorter hikes including one to Salto Grande waterfall and see the park's different plants and animals. The night is spent at a hosteria on the park's edge.

- Day 9
Torres del Paine National Park to Puerto Natales
You continue through Torres del Paine, walking the marked trails to see turquoise lakes, wild rivers, waterfalls, glaciers, granite towers, and forests full of different species. By evening you'll return to Puerto Natales.

Puerto Natales to El Calafate
Your German-speaking guide leads you by public bus from Puerto Natales across the Argentine border to El Calafate. A local guide meets you at the bus terminal and takes you to your hotel. From here you can arrange trips to Los Glaciares National Park to explore the glaciers.

El Calafate
You'll take a full day trip to Perito Moreno Glacier, driving about 80 km through the Patagonian steppe to Los Glaciares National Park. From the viewing platform you'll watch large pieces of ice break off the glacier walls into Lake Argentino with loud cracks and crashing sounds.
