- Day 1
Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding
Your guide picks you up early in the morning for a scenic 30-35 minute flight to Lukla, where you'll see the Himalayan range, valleys, and rivers from the air. After meeting your porter team at the airport, you start trekking through dense forest toward Phakding. Along the way you'll pass local settlements, prayer wheels, mani walls, and cross several suspension bridges. The walk takes a few hours before you reach your guesthouse for the night.

Phakding to Namche Bazaar
This morning you trek along the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers, crossing the Hillary Bridge before the trail climbs up to Namche Bazaar. The elevation gain offers your first clear views of major peaks including Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and Taweche. You'll reach Namche by afternoon and settle into your guesthouse.

Namche Bazaar
You're taking a rest day here in Namche Bazaar, which gives your body time to adjust to the altitude. The idea is to stay somewhat active, so you might do light vertical treks around town or wander through the markets, tea shops, and restaurants. The Sagarmatha National Park Visitor Center is worth checking out to learn about Everest climbing history and Sherpa culture. If you're interested, you can visit Khumjung monastery (famous for its yeti scalp) or Hillary School. Overnight back at your guesthouse.

Namche Bazaar to Tengboche
You're heading from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche on a moderate trek with plenty of ups and downs. The trail offers continuous views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. You'll walk through monasteries and small villages, and if you're lucky you might spot musk deer, Himalayan Tahr, or colorful pheasants. The route takes you through forest and river valleys before reaching Tengboche in the evening.

Tengboche to Dingboche
Today's trek to Dingboche is relatively easy compared to yesterday. You pass through Somare and Orsho villages, then take the left fork toward Pheriche Village. After crossing a bridge you climb a steep hill to reach Dingboche at 4410m/14,465ft. The altitude is starting to become noticeable, reminding you of the physical demands at higher elevation. Several lodges are available when you arrive.

Dingboche
This is another acclimatization day with options depending on how you're feeling. You can trek up the valley to Chhukung at 4730m/15,518ft and Island Peak for a full day of exploration, or take a shorter 2-3 hour trek to Nangkartshang Gompa. There's also the option to climb Chukhung Ri at 5550m/18,208ft for views of Mt. Makalu and surrounding peaks. The Chhukung valley trail passes through Bibr at 4570m/15,000ft with views of Taboche, Lhotse, and Nuptse.

Dingboche to Lobuche
Many people say this is one of the best days of the trek. You trek through mountain scenery with views of Ama Dablam, Pokalde, Kongma-Tse, and the great wall of Nuptse. You'll pass the Trekkers Aid Post at Pheriche, staffed by western volunteers, then climb steeply to Chukpo Lari where memorials mark climbers who died on Everest expeditions. After that you continue to Lobuche, rest for a bit, explore, and watch the sunset over Nuptse.

Lobuche to Everest Base Camp to Gorakshep
An 8-hour trek takes you to Everest Base Camp at 5364m/17,598ft. The path is rocky with views of glacial ponds and icebergs. You'll climb through meadows and walk over moraine stone steps to reach Gorakhshep, then continue the final stretch to Base Camp. After spending time at the camp, you return to Gorakhshep at 5164m/16,942ft for your overnight stay.

Gorakshep to Kala Patthar to Pheriche
You start early with a 2-hour strenuous climb to Kala Patthar summit. It's tough going but worth it for the panoramic views of Pumori, Nuptse, Changtse, Ama Dablam, Taweche, Everest, and Kantega. The summit has prayer flags, cairns, a small stupa, and a weather station, all surrounded by glaciers. After coming back down you grab breakfast at Gorakhshep, then descend to Pheriche for a well-deserved rest.

Pheriche to Namche Bazaar
The descent through valleys and pasturelands begins today, and breathing gets easier as temperatures start rising. You pass through Tengboche, the Monjo valley, and head back toward Lukla with views of Ama Dablam. The rhododendron and juniper-covered hillsides are beautiful, and you might see pheasants, mountain goats, or if you're very fortunate, a snow leopard. You'll end the day back at Namche Bazaar.

Namche Bazaar to Lukla
A steep downhill trek gets you back to Lukla. As you lose elevation the air gets denser and breathing becomes much easier. You trek through Sherpa villages, cross the Tenzing Hillary suspension bridge, and follow the Dudh Koshi River. The path goes through forests and small villages with multiple suspension bridges to cross. When you reach Lukla, spend some time exploring the bazaar to pick up local items, then celebrate your successful trek with your crew.

Lukla to Kathmandu
You catch an early morning scenic 35-minute flight from Tenzing Hillary Airport back to Kathmandu, flying over clouds with great views of the Khumbu region. After landing, your guide transfers you to the hotel where you can rest and recover after your trek. Later in the evening you'll have a farewell dinner with the group to celebrate completing your journey.
