Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Ho Chi Minh City

    You'll meet up at Hotel Liberty Riverside for lunch, then head into the local Chinatown area to walk around. From there, stop by Giac Lam Pagoda, a 300-year-old temple that's worth seeing. After that, browse through the Flower Market and Binh Tay Market to get a sense of daily life here. Later you'll transfer to the ship, get settled into your cabin, and join everyone for a welcome cocktail and dinner. There's an optional evening 'Saigon After Dark' excursion available if you're interested in a Vespa scooter food tour with live music.

  2. Day 2

    Ho Chi Minh City to My Tho

    Start with breakfast on board, then head downtown for a walking tour of Ho Chi Minh City. You'll see Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Municipal Post Office, City Square, and the Opera House. There's time to check out some of the city's green spaces and try the local coffee scene. Back on the ship for lunch, you'll then visit the War Museum before the ship heads toward My Tho. Dinner happens on board as you cruise.

    My Tho to Cai Be to Sa Dec

    Cruise through the Chao Gao canal and watch all the busy shipping activity along the way. Once you reach My Tho, take a boat out to Thoi Son Island where you can sample local fruits and enjoy a scenic Sampan ride through the Mekong Delta. Later you'll bike through villages to see fruit orchards. The ship then cruises to Cai Be for a boat trip along the Mekong River, a visit to a craft village, and time exploring fruit orchards with tea and live music. You can choose between kayaking or mountain biking here. Finish the day by cruising to Sa Dec with dinner on board.

    After breakfast on board, hop on a local boat for a panoramic tour of Sa Dec. Then walk around the local market along the river and visit some preserved colonial houses, including the former home of Huynh Thuy Lê, a character from Marguerite Duras' novel 'The Lover'. The ship then cruises to Chau Doc with lunch and dinner served on board.

    You'll have breakfast on board, then transfer to Tra Su Forest for a small boat exploration of the diverse plants and wildlife there. Back on the ship for lunch, you'll next take a cable car up Sam Mountain for panoramic views and stop at Ba Chua Xu Temple. The ship then heads to the Cambodia-Vietnam border for customs clearance before sailing to Phnom Penh. You'll arrive in the evening with dinner on board.

    Breakfast happens on board, then you'll tour the Royal Palace and its Silver Pagoda followed by the National Museum. A tuk-tuk ride takes you through the city to see the renovated Art Deco Central Market (Phsar Thmei) and local shops. Wander through off-the-beaten-path alleyways where locals play Cambodian-style chess, then visit Wat Phnom, founded in 1373. Stroll through the French Quarter to see colonial architecture. Back on the ship you'll enjoy an Apsara dance show and dinner, with the evening free to relax.

    The day starts with a boat departure to Kampong Tralach where you'll visit Wat Kampong Tralach Leu pagoda, which sits in a village surrounded by rice fields. This early 20th-century vihara has beautiful wall paintings, and there's an option to bike back through the countryside. Lunch happens on board, then you travel to Oudong, which served as the former royal capital for over 250 years. You'll visit Vipassana Dhura Pagoda with its stupas from Khmer kings and climb Oudong Hill for panoramic views of the countryside and Tonlé Sap. The ship then cruises to Kampong Chhnang with dinner and overnight on board.

    Kampong Chhnang to Koh Chen

    After breakfast on board, visit Kampong Chhnang, one of the largest fishing ports on Tonlé Sap Lake with many fish farms. Check out the region's traditional pottery that combines ancient methods with modern techniques, and try a tasting of regional products. Back on the ship for lunch while cruising to Koh Chen, and you have the optional chance to do riverside cycling to the pottery village. The day ends with a farewell dinner and an overnight on the ship.

    The cruise was excellent. However the initial meeting was badly organised and it was difficult to know where we would meet up. Only after meeting did we find out that the first day of the cruise was cancelled and we would have to go by bus to start the cruise next day. No one from Croisi or from TourRadar had told us about this, but everyone else knew. Although the cruise was advertised as English speaking, we were the only native English speaking people on the cruise. Luckily the Finns who were more than half the passengers all spoke excellent English and we got on well with them. At the end of the cruise, the cruise director and local guide were very helpful in getting us to our hotel in Siem Reap, which was different to the one the others were staying at.
