Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Tromsø
You'll arrive in Tromsø during the polar night after your flight lands. Get settled into your accommodation and then head out to explore the city on your own schedule. The 'Venice of the North' has this great combination of sea and lights that you'll notice right away. If you're up for it, there's an optional cable car ride up Storsteinen mountain that gives you views over the whole area.

Tromsø to Senja
Grab a hearty breakfast at a local café to start your day, then you'll drive toward the island of Senja. The route takes you through deep blue fjords with snow-covered peaks all around. Once you reach Senja, you'll see why people call it 'Norway in miniature' - rugged mountains, steep cliffs, hidden bays, and gentle valleys all packed into one place.

Senja
You have real choices here for how to spend your day on Senja. Go dog sledding through the snow with huskies, or try snowshoeing if you prefer a quieter pace through the winter landscape. After you finish your activity, you'll stay out in this remote location far from city lights to search for the Northern Lights in the evening.

Landmarks/POIs Senja - Day 4
Senja to Narvik
The drive takes you through snow-covered mountain peaks and shimmering fjords toward Narvik near the Lofoten Islands. You'll make stops along the coast where you might spot humpback whales and orcas in the water. Narvik sits on a headland between two arms of the Ofotfjord, and it's north of the Arctic Circle. An optional cable car ride gets you up to a local mountain for panoramic views of the whole area.

Landmarks/POIs Ofotfjord Lofoten Islands - Day 5
Narvik
You can take the cable car up again to see more of the mountain landscape and do some optional hiking if you want. Later, walk through Narvik's charming alleyways and check out the cafés. Try a typical Norwegian Kanelbolle pastry, or visit the Krigsminnemuseet if you're interested in learning about Narvik's history during the war.

Narvik to Kiruna
You'll drive from Norway into Sweden with hot coffee and nice views along the way. Once you reach Kiruna, you get a husky sledding adventure through the winter landscape with the dogs. By evening, you're at a wilderness camp in a cozy log cabin in complete seclusion surrounded by snow. There's a wood-burning stove for warmth, hot drinks available, and a sauna to relax in.

Landmarks/POIs Kiruna - Day 7
Kiruna to Kilpisjarvi
After breakfast, you'll say goodbye to the huskies and pick up your rental car. The drive takes you from Sweden into Finland, and you'll arrive at Kilpisjarvi where you can see the Trekisröset border monument marking the Swedish-Finnish border. After you check in, head out to explore the white landscape. You can climb Fjell Saana mountain or take the shorter route to Tsahkal Falls, then warm up with hot cocoa at the visitor center.

Kilpisjarvi
During polar twilight, you'll see these colors shift from velvety orange to strong pink and dark violet as sunlight shimmers just below the horizon. Watch for the Northern Lights in the evening. You have options - visit surrounding fishing villages, try snowshoeing through the landscape, or head to a reindeer farm with professional guides to learn more.

Landmarks/POIs Kilpisjarvi - Day 9
Three Country Cairn
You'll trek about 11 kilometers through snowy landscape to reach the Three Country Cairn, the stone monument where Norway, Sweden, and Finland meet. It's the northernmost border triangle in the world. The surroundings have waterfalls and brooks, and you might see reindeer. If you want more action, snowmobile or ski options are available through untouched landscape.

Kilpisjarvi to Tromsø
On your final day, you'll drive back to Tromsø from Kilpisjarvi. The route takes you through beautiful Scandinavian nature one last time with nice views throughout the drive. After you complete this last leg of your road trip, you'll prepare for your departure and wrap up your northern adventure.
