Itinerary
- Day 1
Anchorage to Kenai Peninsula
You'll start with a hotel pickup and grab breakfast before driving south along Turnagain Arm toward the Kenai Peninsula. From there, you're hiking through alpine meadows to catch views of Exit Glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park. After driving through Seward, a water taxi gets you out to your backcountry beach camp. Once you're settled, the guides prepare dinner while you keep an eye out for marine wildlife along the shore.

Kenai Peninsula Beach Camp
This morning starts with breakfast on the shores of Resurrection Bay, then you'll head out on area trails including Fort McGilvray, which sits on the National Register of Historic Places and isn't far from camp. If conditions work out, alpine trails with Kenai Mountains views are on the menu. The evening brings you back to the beach to watch for marine wildlife, followed by another guide-prepared dinner.

Beach Camp to Kenai Mountains Yurts
You're packing up and leaving the beach camp today, timing your departure based on the tides. The first couple miles happen at low tide, then you switch to forest trails for three more miles. After a drive into the heart of the Kenai Mountains, it's less than a mile to your backcountry yurts and cabin, where you'll stay for two nights. Settle in for a hearty dinner, and if the weather cooperates, there'll be a welcome campfire.

Landmarks Kenai Mountains - Day 4
Spencer Glacier Kayaking and Rafting Adventure
You're up early for a quick hike and short drive to Girdwood train station. The Alaska Railroad takes you to Spencer Glacier Lake, a backcountry spot only reachable by train. From there, you'll kayak across the lake with expert guides from Chugach Adventures to see ancient glacial ice up close. Lunch is a picnic right by the glacier. After kayaking back, you'll raft from Spencer Glacier Lake to the Placer River before the train returns you to Girdwood, then it's back to your yurts for a final backcountry dinner.

Mount Alyeska and Return to Anchorage
After a hot breakfast, you pack up and hike out from the yurts before heading to Mount Alyeska for one last hike. The climb to the summit is steep but the views from the top are worth it, so bring your camera. A picnic lunch waits for you up there. On the way down, you'll take a five-minute gondola ride instead of hiking the descent, then drive back to Anchorage to finish up your Alaska trip.
