Itinerary
- Day 1
Luang Prabang
Meet your guide early and get fitted to a mountain bike. You'll ride a short distance to the Mekong River, then take a ferry across to the other side. The day involves a 20km looping circuit over 3 hours on medium-difficulty dirt roads with some hills. Along the way, you'll meet villagers, see animals, and try local snacks while enjoying views back toward Luang Prabang. Stop in villages for cold drinks to watch daily life happen around you. Lunch comes at a local restaurant near the ferry landing, then head to a vocational restaurant for dinner where your guide talks through what the ride covered.

Luang Prabang
Start early to give alms at temples and see the procession of orange-clad novices and monks collecting donations from the community. After that, take a short hike up Mount Phousi to view the town in the early morning light, then return to the hotel for breakfast. From there, cycle north to Pak Ou and the Buddha Cave, a holy site still worshipped by locals. Have lunch local-style on the beach at Pha An, swim in the Nam Ou river, and cycle back to Luang Prabang by evening.

Luang Prabang
Transfer to Long Lao, a Hmong community of around 80 families. Hike the community-managed 8km trail that ends at the top of Kuang Si Falls. Stop for lunch and swim in the water. On the way back, visit the Laos Water Buffalo Dairy to see this community project that teaches locals about animal care and welfare while creating income for remote villages. The dairy also makes exceptional ice cream worth trying.

Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng
A 2-hour minivan transfer gets you to Kiu Kacham at 1350 meters altitude. Start cycling between 1000 and 1400 meters heading toward Phou Khoun. After Phou Khoun, you'll take a long descent with great views down into the Kasi valley. Continue cycling to Vang Vieng for an overnight stay.

Vang Vieng
This day covers a shorter distance on gently rolling hills to Vang Vieng, and you'll arrive in time for lunch. In the afternoon, there's the option to visit Tham Xang, a cave set in dramatic scenery on the banks of the Nam Song River. Relax with a Lao beer and watch the sunset over the mountains you cycled across, with time for a swim if you want.

Vang Vieng
Morning involves a vigorous and steep trek up Big Pha Ngern. This fun climb rewards you with views across the Song Valley. The trek takes around 2.5 to 3 hours, so you should be back in Vang Vieng by lunch. In the afternoon, there's an optional visit to Blue Lagoon 3 if you feel like swimming.

Vang Vieng
Spend the day doing multiple adventure activities Vang Vieng has to offer. Start with a short trip to the water cave where you'll float through the cave structure while pulling yourself along in an inner tube. After that, time allows for the ziplines if you're interested. The final activity is a leisurely kayak on the Nam Song river to wind down the day.

Vang Vieng to Ban Kuene District
An easy cycling day heading to the 250 square kilometer artificial Lake Nam Ngum, often called the 'sea of Laos'. A 2-hour boat ride brings you to your hotel where you can relax by the pool and enjoy the sunset over the lake.

Ban Kuene District to Vientiane
Busy morning ahead. Cycle to Laos Conservation Trust to visit their program and learn about protecting endangered Southeast Asian species. From there, cycle through paddy fields with fine views in the Phou Khao Khouay mountain range before entering Vientiane, the capital. Ride through the suburbs toward the city center along the Mekong river bank. Finish with a farewell local-style BBQ dinner on the banks of the Mekong.

Your final day is free to explore Vientiane at your own pace. The city has many temples and pagodas, markets, and antique hamlets to check out. Your crew is available to help arrange additional activities or more cycling if you want to extend your Laos adventure.
