Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Tangier to Chefchaouen

    You'll arrive in Tangier and have options depending on your interests. Either spend time in the port city itself or head inland toward Chefchaouen. If you go for Chefchaouen, you'll stop for a 2 to 3 hour hike through Cascades d'Akchour waterfalls along the way. Once you settle in, the blue-washed streets of the old medina are waiting to explore. Walk through the narrow alleyways, check out Place Outa el Hammam square and the Grand Mosque, then visit the kasbah. Later, climb up to the Spanish Mosque and catch the sunset views over the town and surrounding mountains.

  2. Day 2

    Chefchaouen to Fes

    Start early from Chefchaouen if photography is on your mind. From there, you'll make a detour to see the Roman ruins at Volubilis, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with well-preserved mosaics and old merchant homes worth walking through. Stop in Meknes next to explore the medina, which is quieter than other cities, and the Ville Impériale before heading to Fes. Once you arrive, head to the Merenid Tombs for panoramic views of the old city. Later, settle into your riad in the medina for the night.

  3. Day 3

    Fes

    You'll spend the first half of the day with a guide in Fes el Bali, which happens to be one of the largest car-free urban areas in the world. Your guide will show you how Spanish and Tunisian refugees influenced the architecture and layout. Walk through the many souks and visit the Chouara Tannery from the 11th century. From outside, you can see the Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque, then go into the Al Attarine Madrasa to see the intricate tilework up close. By afternoon, head to Fes el Jdid and the Mellah for panoramic city views.

  4. Day 4

    Fes to Rabat to Casablanca

    This morning you'll continue exploring Fes, and if ceramics interest you, there's an optional workshop to check out. After that, you'll head west toward Rabat on the Atlantic coast. See the medieval Chellah Necropolis with its Roman and Islamic ruins, then explore the Kasbah des Oudaias with its white and blue-washed streets. Visit the Andalusian Gardens and see the Hassan Tower, which has 200 supporting columns. By evening, you'll reach Casablanca and get settled into your accommodation.

  5. Day 5

    Casablanca

    Start your morning at the Hassan II Mosque, one of the few mosques in Morocco where non-Muslims can enter. You'll see hand-carved details, intricate marble floors, and gilded ceilings inside. Browse through the Hobous medina afterward, which dates from the 1930s art deco period and has olive, vegetable, and spice markets. Take a casual walk along Boulevard de la Corniche by the beachfront, then you'll head south for about three hours to reach Marrakech, known as the Red City.

    Marrakech

    Meet your guide and explore Marrakech, a major economic center with deep Berber roots. Walk through the spice, blacksmith, and slipper souks while noticing the historic Fondouks, which are old caravanserai courtyards. Spend the afternoon at Jemaa el-Fna Square as it really comes to life with musicians, storytellers, acrobats, dancers, and snake charmers performing. As the sun sets, food stalls start appearing around the square, and you can grab fresh mint tea at one of the many cafés.

    Really good trip. Just be aware they don’t contact you until the last minute for pick up. There is also a lot of driving involved (the van does have AC though). Our driver Dozi was really nice and helpful and made the trip fun. Saw some awesome sights and the camel ride was amazing. The desert is really HOT at night though so I recommend getting an AC tent or avoid doing it in August.

    Our experience with Khalil at Morocco Tour Marrakech was flawless. We started by discussing our travel plans, detailing where we would begin the tour and where it would end. Khalil provided various options based on the number of days we had in the country and helped us decide on a fantastic 10-day itinerary. Initially, we planned to fly in from Spain, but we decided to take a ferry instead. Khalil seamlessly adjusted our plans to accommodate this change. Our tour director, Omar, was exceptionally accommodating and knowledgeable, making our journey thoroughly enjoyable. The local guides—Morad, Mohammed, and karim—were incredibly well-versed in the history and culture of their respective cities, keeping us engaged throughout the city tours. Omar and the local guides made our trip an unforgettable experience. Their pride in their country and dedication to ensuring we had a great time were evident, leaving us with cherished memories of our adventure through Morocco.

    Khalil went above and beyond on our trip. Our driver, Ali, was always on time, helpful, and greeted us with water during the hot weather. Both of the tours we took were very informative. My one complaint is that we wish we had been warned about the prices and haggling before being dropped off at the rug store. We happened to be there during a holiday, and our Fes tour guide welcomed us into his home for a meal since everything was closed. Other than that, it was truly an amazing trip. Megan and Winnie at Wunderlust were always helpful, even responding promptly and assisting with reservations for the group.
