After breakfast and a guide briefing, you'll drive from Moshi to Londorossi National Park Gate for registration. From there, continue to Shira Gate at 2,787m/9,144ft where your trek officially starts. The initial hike takes you through rainforest on a winding muddy trail, so bring gaiters and trekking poles since conditions tend to be wet. You'll stop for lunch partway through, then reach Shira Camp in the afternoon where you can unpack, rest, and have some tea or coffee.

    Meals
Breakfast, Lunch (Lunch during trek), Dinner

    Included Activities

  3. Day 3

    Shira Camp to Barranco Camp

This is the toughest day yet. You'll trek eastward through semi-desert and rocky terrain around Lava Tower, climbing to 4,600m/15,092ft over roughly 5 hours. Lunch happens at a designated stop, then it's the rocky scree path up to Lava Tower itself. Altitude symptoms like breathlessness and headaches may start showing up for some climbers. After that, you descend about 660m/2,165ft over approximately 2 hours down to Barranco Camp at 3,940m/12,926ft, positioned in a valley below the Breach Wall with memorable sunset views.

    Meals
Breakfast, Lunch (Lunch at designated area before Lava Tower ascent), Dinner

    Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

After breakfast, hike up the Barranco Wall from 3,940m/12,926ft to 4,200m/13,780ft, which takes around an hour. The day continues with multiple ascents and descents as you work toward Karanga Camp at 4,035m/13,238ft. In the afternoon, you'll do an acclimatization hike to help your body adjust to the altitude.

    Meals
    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    • Afternoon acclimatization hike

Following breakfast, take an acclimatization hike heading toward Barafu Camp at 4,670m/15,322ft, then return to Karanga Camp at 4,035m/13,238ft for dinner and the night. This type of day significantly improves your acclimatization and really boosts your chances of reaching the summit successfully.

    Meals
    Breakfast, Dinner

    • Return trek to Karanga Camp
    Landmarks
    Barafu Camp
  6. Day 6

    Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Hike up to Barafu Camp at 4,670m/15,322ft, pitched on a narrow stony ridge that's totally exposed to wind and gales. Spend time getting familiar with the terrain before dark so you avoid accidents. Check your equipment including ski sticks, thermal clothing, headlamp with fresh batteries, camera batteries with spares, and a thermal flask for water. Head to bed around 7pm to grab precious rest before your summit attempt, aiming for no more than 5 hours of sleep.

    Meals
    Breakfast, Dinner

    Included Activities

    • Guided trek from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
    • Equipment preparation for summit attempt
    Landmarks
    Barafu Camp
  7. Day 7

Summit Attempt and Descent to Mweka Camp

You'll rise around 11:30pm. After tea and biscuits, start your summit push heading northwesterly through heavy scree toward Stella Point on the crater rim, a 6 hour walk that's often the toughest part both mentally and physically. Reach Stella Point at 5,759m/18,891ft for a short rest and to watch the sunrise if weather allows. From there, ascend through snow to Uhuru Peak over about 2 hours. Celebrate at the summit, then descend roughly 3 hours back to Barafu Camp. After a quick rest and packing your gear, head down to Mweka Camp for dinner and overnight.

    Meals

Then drive to Springlands Hotel where you'll have a hot lunch and take a well deserved hot shower. You'll spend the night at Springlands Hotel. Successful climbers receive summit certificates here: green ones for Stella Point, gold ones for Uhuru Peak.

Every aspect of our 8-day trip went smoothly. Our guide Mustapha from Tanzania Wildlife Adventures made the trip special with his outstanding support as a guide. He took us to nice locations where we found wildlife easily, and in the end, we managed to see everything we wanted. The accommodations, particularly in the Serengeti, were excellent, especially the Serengeti Safari Lodge, which was a clear gem with many amenities, quality service, and attention to detail. The food was also very delicious! We would be happy to return and are also going to recommend you to all our friends!

The travel experience was very nice. Unfortunately, there are 3 points of criticism. We had booked an overnight stay in advance. We were parked here in a small hotel, which did not correspond to the level of the Springlands Hotel. When booking, we asked for a German-speaking tour guide. This was only agreed to at our express request at the briefing. However, we received very little information from the guide (with moderate knowledge of German). In comparison, the jeep was

We had an absolutely magical safari trip that exceeded all our expectations. Our guide, Bonnie, was awesome, and with him, we managed to see all of the 'Big Five' and many more animals in their natural habitat. We also visited the Datoga tribe, which was an incredible way to experience the diverse culture found in Tanzania. Bonnie was amazing, and thanks to him, we were able to experience the safari with his deep insight about the trip. The accommodations were comfortable and pleasant, providing good food and a great atmosphere. If given another opportunity, I wouldn't change anything about the trip.
