- Day 1
Arrival in San Salvador
You'll arrive at El Salvador airport and get transferred to your hotel in San Salvador. If your flight gets in early enough, there's time to wander around the city and get oriented before settling in for the night.

San Salvador and Suchitoto
Start your morning in San Salvador's historic center, checking out the cathedral, national palace, theatre, and various churches scattered throughout. After lunch, you'll drive to Suchitoto to see its cultural sites like the central plaza, Santa Lucia Church, and the House of Alejandro Coto. Head back to San Salvador by evening.

Mayan Archaeological Sites to Santa Ana
You'll visit three Mayan archaeological sites that don't get as many tourists. First stop is Joya de Ceren, a pre-Columbian farming village buried under volcanic ash. Then you'll see San Andres Archaeological Park with its museum, followed by Tazumal to view El Salvador's largest pyramid and the Stone of the Victories. Drive to Santa Ana for the night (around 75°F/24°C).

Cerro Verde National Park and Santa Ana Volcano
Head to Cerro Verde National Park and start a 4-hour hike on Santa Ana Volcano before 11 am. You'll walk through rainforest with a guide looking for wildlife, visit an orchid garden, and get views of turquoise Lake Coatepeque and Izalco Volcano. Before heading back to San Salvador in the late afternoon, walk along the crater rim to see the sulfur lagoon.

Departure from El Salvador
Your driver guide will take you to El Salvador International Airport based on your flight time. You can spend extra time in Playa El Tunco or check out more of the coast if you have hours before departure.
