Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    York to Robin Hood's Bay

    Meet your guide team at York Train Station at 11:00 and transfer to Robin Hood's Bay, which takes about 90 minutes. Once you arrive, there's a welcome briefing over tea and sandwiches at Victoria Hotel. After getting your bikes sorted, you'll head out on an easy 25km warm-up ride to Whitby through lush green countryside. The day wraps up with a relaxed evening meal back at the hotel.

  2. Day 2

    Robin Hood's Bay to Harrogate

    Today's a big one. You'll tackle a point-to-point ride across the Yorkshire Moors from Robin Hood's Bay to Harrogate, covering 127km with 1,647m of elevation gain. The route takes in the scenic moors and passes through Betty's Tearoom in Harrogate. A picnic lunch happens somewhere en route to break things up, and then you'll finish with an evening meal in Harrogate.

    Harrogate to Austwick

    You'll cycle from Harrogate to Austwick, a 75.2km ride with 1,116m of climbing. The landscape shifts from open Yorkshire Moors into rolling Yorkshire Dales as you go. Stop for a traditional English tearoom lunch with soup and a sandwich partway through, then finish the day with an evening meal at The Traddock hotel in Austwick.

  4. Day 4

    Austwick

    This is a spectacular loop ride based on the Etape du Dales. You'll start at Ribblehead Viaduct, a Victorian engineering marvel, then descend to Hawes and tackle the challenging Buttertubs Pass. From there it's Cross Top and Aysgarth, where you'll have a picnic lunch by the waterfall. After that come the climbs at Kidstones and Malham Tarn before descending back to Austwick. Your evening is free, so you can relax at the hotel or take a 10-minute taxi to nearby Settle if you want.

  5. Day 5

    Austwick to Lake District

    Time to head west toward the Lake District. You'll tackle the final Yorkshire climb to Deepdale, then descend through the village of Dent. Lunch happens at a café in Kendal, which is a good chance to pick up some Kendal Mint Cake if you want. After lunch, you'll ride through Bowland Bridge and make your way to the banks of Lake Windermere, then continue north for 20km to the small village of Barngates and The Drunken Duck for your evening meal.

    Lake District Loop

    Your final ride is a challenging loop over the steep slopes of Hard Knott Pass down to the coastal village of Seascale. There's a picnic lunch and photo stop by the sea to break it up. Then comes the tough ride back with 5 punchy climbs on the way. You'll pass Coniston Water before returning to The Drunken Duck, where you'll celebrate with your first ale of the evening.

    The route was frankly ridiculous, way to long ,the way I made it was by not doing gravel, but state roads,not what I wanted but the only way to get from hotel to hotel. Also I did climb the 1500meter mountain between France and Spain, it was a challenge and you mentioning age group to 90 years old is deceiving. But I had a challenging great time,just what I signed up for
