Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Iceland
You'll land at Keflavik International Airport and hop on the FlyBus shuttle to get to your accommodation. After you settle in, the day is open for you to wander around at your own pace and get a feel for things.

- Day 2
Golden Circle Route: Reykjavik to Borgarnes
Start with a geothermal greenhouse tour to see how locals grow tomatoes year-round in this climate. Then head to Icelandic horse stables before driving to Gulfoss to see the double falls drop dramatically. You'll walk through the active geothermal area at Geysir and watch Strokkur shoot hot water up to 25 metres into the air. The day ends at Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO site where you can see the North American and European tectonic plates visibly separating.

Snæfellsnes to Patreksfjörður
You'll explore the Snaefellsnes Peninsula with its rugged mountains topped by the 1,446-metre Snaefellsjokull glacier. Check out lava flows, volcanic craters, fjords, sandy beaches and high cliffs throughout the national park. In the morning, descend 35 metres underground into the Vatnshellir lava cave and travel 200 metres into the lava tube. Later in the afternoon, catch the scenic 2.5-hour car ferry Baldur from Stykkisholmur across the bay, passing the summer-inhabited island of Flatey with views of countless isles and the glacier.

Patreksfjörður
Start at the Folk and Transport Museum in Hnjottur, then head to Latrabjarg, the westernmost point of Iceland and Europe. Walk through the wilderness to reach the top of the cliff and spot puffins, razorbills, guillemots, fulmars, cormorants and kittiwakes. Weather permitting, you'll visit the red sand at Raudisandur beach where the colours shift with daylight and tides, and you might see seals lounging among the seabirds.

Patreksfjörður to Hvammstangi
Journey over mountains and along fjord shores to Arnarfjordur, then head to the bottom of the fjord to view Dynjandi waterfall with its seven levels of cascading water. From there, travel along the southern West Fjords coastline with sheer cliffs and deep cut bays. Stop at Erpsstadur, a family-run dairy farm where you'll learn about milk production and taste their local ice cream and seasonal dairy products.

Hvammstangi to Akureyri
You'll travel on a gravel road around the Vatnses Peninsula through the fishing village of Hvammstangi. Visit Hvitserkur, a 15-metre-high rock formation by the seashore (legend says it's a petrified troll). Walk the viewing platform at Koluglufur canyon to see waterfalls cascade into the gorge. Stop at Vididalur's turf church built in 1834, then drive along a high mountain road to reach Akureyri, where you'll spend two nights.

- Day 7
Akureyri with Whale Watching and Siglufjörður
Have breakfast in Akureyri's botanical gardens, then head out for a 2-3 hour whale watching tour in Eyjafj0rdur, Iceland's longest fjord just below the Arctic Circle. In the afternoon, travel to Siglufj0rdur on the Trollaski Peninsula. Pass through dramatic fjord landscapes and quaint fishing villages, then visit the Herring Era Museum and taste herring paired with Brennivin, Icelandic schnapps.

Akureyri to Bakkagerði
Start at Godafoss, the waterfall of the Gods, and continue to Lake Myvatn with its volcanic lava landscapes, pseudo craters, and hot springs. Drive to Dettifoss, Europe's most powerful waterfall in Vatnajokull National Park for a 40-60 minute walk. Travel through bare, deserted highlands to reach Bakkagerdi, an isolated village with just 120 inhabitants nestled against steep mountainsides.

- Day 9
Bakkagerði to Höfn
Navigate the twisty roads of the East Fjords, passing tiny fishing villages along the way. Stop at Vok baths, a geothermal floating pool in Lake Urrídavatn where you'll soak in hot water and enjoy lake views. Next, visit Petra's rock collection museum with rocks, crystals and zeolites gathered over 80 years. Later, take in views of Vatnajokull, Europe's biggest glacier, visible across Southeast Iceland.

Höfn to Vik
Head to Vatnajokull National Park covering around 14 percent of Iceland's land mass. Take a boat ride among floating icebergs on Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon. Walk along the black sands of Diamond Beach and explore Skaftafell below Iceland's highest mountain. End with a drive across sandy desert to reach Vik, Iceland's southernmost village, where you'll stay the night.

- Day 11
Vik to Reykjavik
Travel the South Coast between sea, mountains, glaciers and waterfalls. Check out the black lava beach at Reynisfjara and its bird cliffs, then stop at Skogafoss waterfall where mist creates rainbows. Visit the Skogar Folk Museum with traditional turf houses, then see Seljalandsfoss waterfall and walk the trail behind it (bring a raincoat). Tour the Lava and Volcano Exhibition Centre about geology and volcanic eruptions, then have a farewell dinner at a restaurant in Reykjavik.
