You'll arrive in Lima and get picked up for transfer to your hotel in Miraflores, the upscale neighborhood where you'll be based. This evening you'll join the travel director and other group members for dinner to kick things off.

- Day 2
Lima
Start at Casona San Marcos where you'll grab a local snack and hear about the building's history. Then it's time to learn the cajón, a percussion instrument, and pick up some basic moves for música negra dance. Head to the Main Square after that, and you can choose to go on a walking tour of Miraflores with a local guide, checking out Larcomar shopping centre and Kennedy Park. Dinner happens at Pasaje de Ramón.

Lima to Cusco
Fly to Cusco this morning, which serves as your gateway to the Sacred Valley. You'll have a local Peruvian lunch with views stretching across the Sacred Valley, then meet with a Shaman for a welcome ceremony to mark your arrival in Peru.

Sacred Valley
Spend the day with farmers who grow Peru's Giant White Corn, learning how they combine old ways with new methods. The day wraps up with a hands-on cooking class where you'll make ceviche and learn to prepare a proper Pisco sour.

Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu
Head to Ollantaytambo, the Incan stronghold sitting on the Urubamba River in the Sacred Valley. Board the Vistadome train to Machu Picchu, taking in scenery along the old Inca Trail with snacks provided. Once there, a local specialist leads you through the Lost City, showing you the Temple of the Sun, House of the Priest, Sacred Plaza and the intricately carved Intihuatana.

Machu Picchu to Sacred Valley
Get one more chance to walk through Machu Picchu at your own pace before heading back toward the Sacred Valley by train. Along the way you'll stop to learn about natural dyeing techniques used by native weavers. Later, you'll visit the Pisac handicraft market and try chicha, a traditional Andean drink.

Cusco
This morning takes you to Sacsayhuamán fortress overlooking Cusco, then a guided tour of the city follows. You'll see Korikancha, the most important temple in the Incan Empire, and Mantay, a social project helping young mothers. The afternoon is free to wander on your own or join optional activities like the Choco Museum, Maras Salt Mines, Moray terraces, a nighttime walking tour, or a Peruvian cooking class.

Cusco to Puno
Travel from Cusco toward Puno, passing through La Raya Pass where the Andes split the two regions. You'll explore Raqchi, an archaeological site that was important along the Inca road network. Later, visit a local family's home to share lunch and stories, then paint your own torito de Pucará, a colorful ceramic bull that represents strength and protection in Andean tradition.

Lake Titicaca

Paracas to Nazca
Fly over the desert to see the Nazca Lines, ancient geoglyphs best viewed from above. You'll spot the hummingbird, spider, monkey and condor among these vast, centuries-old designs. Back on the ground, visit the Regional Museum of Ica to see artifacts from Paracas, Nazca and Inca cultures. Then go to a winery to learn how Pisco is made and sample different varieties, followed by a relaxed lunch of regional food. The afternoon is free.

Paracas
Cruise around the Ballestas Islands with a local specialist this morning, a place sometimes called the 'mini-Galapagos' because of all the wildlife. You'll see the mysterious Candelabro in Pisco Bay and spot guanay cormorants, Peruvian boobies, Peruvian pelicans, sea lions and Humboldt penguins. Return to Lima and visit the Larco Museum with a specialist, then wrap up your Peru adventure with a farewell dinner in the museum's garden restaurant.

Quito
Explore Quito's historic centre, the first UNESCO World Heritage Site designated anywhere in the world. Travel to the 'Middle of the World' and stand on the Equator. After that, your time is open for you to see whatever interests you most.

Pitt Point to Cerro Brujo
Head to Pitt Point this morning and climb up the steep volcanic tuff hill to a high vantage point where you can spot all three booby species at once. Then go to Cerro Brujo's coral sand beach to hang out with resident sea lions or snorkel in the shadow of Witch's Hill.
