Itinerary
- Day 1
Marrakech to Dades Valley
You'll head out early and drive through the High Atlas Mountains toward Ait-Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that's been used as a filming location for Game of Thrones and Gladiator. The drive itself is scenic with mountain views the whole way. Once there, you'll walk through the kasbah and see the traditional clay architecture. After, you'll continue to Ouarzazate where you can optionally check out Touarirt Kasbah and the Cinema Studios if those interest you. Then comes the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, which takes you through Skoura Oases and smaller Berber villages. The route is winding but worth it for the landscape. You'll reach Dades Gorges by evening and settle in for the night.

- Day 2
Dades Valley to Merzouga Desert
After breakfast you'll drive through Tinghir and spend some time in its historic Jewish quarter, which has interesting architecture and history. Next you'll head to Todgha Gorges for a short walk through the canyon, which rises about 300 meters on both sides. Then you'll move on to Arfoud, known for its date markets and fossils if you want to browse. By late afternoon you'll arrive in Merzouga just as the sun starts setting. Once there, you'll trade the vehicle for a camel and ride for about 1.5 hours out into the dunes with photo stops along the way. Dinner happens at the desert camp, and there's a traditional music performance in the evening.

- Day 3
Merzouga Desert Exploration
You'll wake early to catch the sunrise over the sand dunes, then head back to camp for breakfast. After eating, you'll switch to a 4x4 vehicle for an off-roading tour through the desert. During the day you'll visit Merzouga Oases, stop at a Nomadic Berber family's tent to see how they live, check out the Gnawa Black people's village, and explore a fossil site where you can see ancient animal fossils embedded in volcanic rocks. A traditional lunch is included somewhere in the middle. By afternoon you'll head back to your hotel in the dunes and relax by the pool for the rest of the day.

- Day 4
Merzouga Desert to Fes
You'll head back from the desert either by camel or 4x4 to Arfoud, depending on what you prefer. From there you'll drive toward the Ziz Oases with nice panoramic views of the landscape along the way. By midday you'll stop in Midelt for lunch. After eating, you'll drive to Azrou Forest where you can spot Barbary Macaque monkeys in their natural habitat. Then you'll continue on to Ifrane, which people call the 'Switzerland of Morocco' because of its alpine feel and cooler climate. The final drive takes you to Fes, one of the world's oldest medieval cities, where you'll arrive by evening.

Fes City Tour
You'll have a full guided tour of Fes Old Medina with a local guide who knows the narrow streets well. The tour covers handicraft workshops where artisans work on leather, metal, and textiles, the tanneries where hides are processed using traditional methods, Al-Quaraouine University which is historically significant, various madrasas (religious schools) with beautiful tile work, and the busy local markets where vendors sell everything from spices to ceramics. You can ask your guide to adjust the tour based on what interests you most. In the evening you'll head back to your traditional riad in the Old City, which sits right in the heart of everything, and you'll have time to relax in the courtyard or on the rooftop.
