You'll start with the toughest day ahead—a 25km trek through the Pyrenees from Saint Jean Pied de Port to Roncesvalles. The climb goes from 200m to over 1,400m elevation, and you can choose between the Napoleon Route (traditional but steep) or the Valcarlos Route (safer if weather turns bad). Plan for 7-9 hours of walking depending on your fitness level, but you'll be rewarded with spectacular mountain views and real peace once you reach the higher elevations.
