Itinerary
- Day 1
Lima
You'll arrive in Lima and get picked up from the airport for transfer to your hotel. If you're interested in cooking, there's a 4-hour Lima Cooking Class starting around 10:00 am where you'll visit a local market and prepare a traditional Peruvian meal, returning by 1:00 pm. Later you'll join your group for a welcome meeting.

- Day 2
Lima to Puerto Maldonado to Tambopata National Reserve
After flying to Puerto Maldonado, you'll travel by motorized canoe to your lodge near Tambopata National Reserve. Watch for local bird species along the Tambopata River during the journey. Once you arrive, you'll have a welcome drink and orientation, then head out for an evening night walk with a naturalist guide to look for nocturnal creatures in the rainforest.

Landmarks/POIs Tambopata National Reserve Tambopata River - Day 3
Tambopata National Reserve
This full day involves exploring the rainforest with naturalist guides. You'll start early walking through the jungle searching for toucans, howler monkeys, and sloths. Later you'll canoe along oxbow lakes looking for river otters, turtles, and anacondas. After dinner, take a motorized canoe tour down the river to spot caimans along the muddy banks.

Landmarks/POIs Tambopata National Reserve - Day 4
Tambopata National Reserve to Cusco
You'll leave the jungle by boat to Puerto Maldonado and fly to Cusco, traveling over the Andes into Peru's Inca heartland. After arriving in the afternoon, walk through the plazas and markets. Later visit the Cusco Planetarium for a presentation on Southern Hemisphere skies and ancient Inca astronomy, and check out the telescopes if weather cooperates.

Landmarks/POIs Cusco Planetarium - Day 5
Sacred Valley
Drive to the Sacred Valley for a full day with a local guide. Visit Parque de la Papa, a rural Andean community preserving hundreds of native potato varieties, and walk through to learn about cultivation and traditional weaving. Then explore the Inca ruins at Ollantaytambo and Pisac. You'll have lunch at the G Adventures-supported Parwa Community Restaurant.

Inca Trail Day 1 (Urubamba to Llactapata)
Start the Inca Trail from Urubamba by van to the trailhead. You'll hike through Andean countryside alongside streams and past remote mountain villages and ancient ruins to warm up for tougher days ahead. Pass by smaller ruin sites like Llactapata. Local porters, cooks, and guides handle most details, so you only need a small daypack.

Landmarks/POIs Llactapata - Day 7
Inca Trail Day 2 (Dead Woman's Pass)
Head up the long, steep path to Warmiwaynusca (Dead Woman's Pass) at 4,198 meters/13,769 feet, the trail's highest point. The rugged terrain offers views of the Sacred Valley as you climb. Aim to reach camp by early afternoon so you can rest for the remainder of the day.

Landmarks/POIs Warmiwañusca (Dead Woman's Pass) - Day 8
Inca Trail Day 3 (Runquraqay to Phuyupatamarca/Wiñay Wayna)
Cross two passes today. Start with Runquraqay at 3,950m/13,113 ft where clear days show snowcapped peaks of Cordillera Vilcabamba. Continue through cloud forest on a gentle climb to Phuyupatamarca at 3,650 meters/11,972 feet, known as the city above the clouds. You'll camp either there or further on near Wiñay Wayna ruins at 2,650 meters/8,694 feet.

Landmarks/POIs Runquraqay Phuyupatamarca Wiñay Wayna Cordillera Vilcabamba - Day 9
Inca Trail Day 4 (Sun Gate to Machu Picchu to Cusco)
Your final hike begins before dawn. Reach the Sun Gate in time to watch daybreak over Machu Picchu, then tour this 15th-century UNESCO World Heritage site. Afterward hike down and catch a bus to Aguas Calientes for lunch and free time. Later take the train back to Cusco.
