Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Lagos
You'll get picked up at the airport and head straight to your hotel in Lagos for the night. This gives you time to settle in and rest up before things get going tomorrow.
- Day 2
Lagos
Start the day at the Fela Kuti Museum, then move over to the island to walk through the Afro-Brazilian quarter and check out the National Museum with its artifacts and exhibits on government history. Grab lunch somewhere in the area, and after that head to the nature conservation center in Lekki. Finish up at the Nike Art Gallery to see African art before the day winds down.

Lagos to Badagry
Drive west along the coast to Badagry, a former slave port with several important historical sites to see including the First Storey Building, Seriki Williams Abbas family home, and the Point of No Return. Spend time at the Heritage Museum learning about the transatlantic slave trade, then head back to Lagos in the afternoon.

Lagos to Abeokuta
Drive to Abeokuta and make your way up Olumo Rock, a 130-meter-high sacred site with caves and historic settlements. Walk through the town to see the distinctive Afro-Brazilian-style architecture from the 1800s, browse the Kuto market and fetish market for cultural items and insights, then visit the Kuti Heritage Museum focused on Fela Kuti and his family.

Abeokuta to Akure
Drive to Idanre and hike through the Idanre Hills to a plateau with an abandoned village, palace, and sacred sites. The landscape shifts between striking terrain and evergreen vegetation. From there, continue on to Akure and stay the night.

Akure to Osogbo
After breakfast, drive to Osogbo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the sacred grove of Osun with its Yoruba deity sculptures that were revitalized by Austrian artist Susanne Wenger from the 1960s onward. Stop by a traditional Orisha temple to better understand local spiritual practices and beliefs.

Osogbo to Ilorin
After breakfast, head to Ilorin, a predominantly Muslim town that blends Yoruba and Fulani dynasties, and you'll arrive around noon for lunch. Explore the traditional weaving quarters of Aro where Ilorin's famous weavers do their work, visit the Emir's palace, then return to your hotel for the evening.

Ilorin to Lokoja
Drive toward Lokoja with a stop in Esie to see the Esie Museum, Nigeria's first museum established in 1945 and home to the largest collection of soapstone sculptures. Later, continue to Lokoja on the Niger River banks, take a brief city tour and wander through the local market where you can talk with residents.

Lokoja to Idah
Drive to Idah, the cultural heartland of the Igala people, one of Nigeria's most traditional ethnic groups. Visit the palace of His Majesty the King of Attah to learn about Igala history and culture, see the statue of Princess Inikpi who sacrificed herself for the kingdom, and visit the Inachalo River where Jukun warriors were defeated.

Idah to Abuja

Abuja Departure
Leave the city to visit a Fulani village and interact with villagers and the village chief, then stop at the Arts & Crafts Village for last-minute souvenirs. Have lunch at the market, go to Millennium Park, return to the hotel, check out and transfer to the airport for your departure.
