Itinerary
- Day 1
Mitlung to Sinuwa to Hellok
You'll start by crossing a suspension bridge over a small river, then make your way down toward the Tamor River as you pass through local villages and terraced fields. The trail takes you close to the river on narrow paths before heading uphill through more terraced land to reach Hellok village by the end of the day.

Kathmandu to Bhadrapur to Taplejung
From Kathmandu, you'll fly to Bhadrapur with views across the eastern region spreading out below. After landing, a car or jeep picks you up for roughly 8 hours of driving to Taplejung, stopping at the tea gardens of Illam for lunch along the way.

Hellok to Mamasik
Trekking from Hellok to Mamasik, you'll descend through the landscape while coming across local people going about their day. Tea breaks happen throughout, giving you time to chat with locals and see their homes and animals. You'll walk along the Simbuwa Khola for much of the trek.

Mamasik to Tortong
This day involves a gradual hike following the Sibuwa River, crossing it once before climbing uphill for a short stretch. You'll trek through rhododendrons, bamboo bushes, and thick forest to reach Tortong. Keep an eye out for wildlife like red pandas, wild boars, bears, and musk deer in these areas.

Tortong to Cheram
Dense forest trails with bamboo and rhododendron trees line your path as you walk alongside a river. From there, you'll head uphill along the Simbuwa Khola to reach Cheram, where you'll settle in for the night.

Cheram to Ramche
After breakfast, you'll take a short trek ascending from Cheram to reach the snout of Yalung Glacier. Walking through a valley, you'll see Himalayan peaks around you. The route passes through the small settlement of Lapsang before you arrive at Ramche.

- Day 7
Ramche to Yalung Base Camp to Cheram
From Ramche, you'll follow the valley upward and walk along a stream, then climb to the mountaintop for views of Kanchenjunga's southern face. You can see Jannu Himal from here, and you'll visit Oktang Monastery before reaching Yalung Base Camp for views of the peak. Later you'll descend back to Cheram for the night.

- Day 8
Cheram to Sele La
Starting with breakfast, you'll trek through four passes in sequence: Sinelapche Bhanjyang, Mirgin La Pass, Sinon La pass, and Sele La pass. The steep sections have prayer flags marking the way as you ascend. You'll spend the night at Sele La.

Sele La to Ghunsa
Trekking northward with Tangbgharma Danda nearby, you'll pass a chorten with prayer flags that marks where a steep trail begins. The path descends through rhododendron, birch, and pine forests, eventually bringing you to Ghunsa, a Sherpa village with traditional houses.

- Day 10
Ghunsa (Rest Day)
You have a rest day in Ghunsa to explore the village at your own pace. Stop by the monastery, check out juniper and incense factories, and visit antique shops that sell handmade carpets. This village sits as an important gateway to the North and South Base Camps of Kanchenjunga.

- Day 11
Ghunsa to Kambachen
Heading northward from Ghunsa, you'll trek along the river bank with mountain scenery surrounding you. The route passes through meadows filled with wildflowers and forests of rhododendron and pine. You'll cross a bridge at Rampuk Kharka, pass a waterfall and a tricky landslide section, then catch views of Mt. Jannu before arriving at Kambachen.

- Day 12
Kambachen to Lhonak
This is a challenging day that starts early. You'll trek through rocky fields and large boulders along the riverbank to a beautiful waterfall. After crossing a bridge, you'll reach Ramtang monastery, then navigate through a landslide section at a steady pace. Later you'll descend to the river and finish at Lhonak.

- Day 13
Lhonak to Kanchenjunga Base Camp to Pangpema
From Lhonak, you'll head toward Kanchenjunga Base Camp, walking alongside the massive Kanchenjunga Glacier. You'll pass Pangpema and begin your descent to the base camp where Mount Kanchenjunga, Jannu Himal, Makalu, Barunche, and other Himalayan peaks come into view. You'll return to Pangpema to stay the night.

Pangpema to Ghunsa (via Kambachen)
Today involves descending from Pangpema back to Ghunsa via Kambachen, retracing the same route you took during the ascent.

- Day 15
Ghunsa to Amjilosa
Heading down from Kambachen toward Phale, you'll pass several mani walls and a monastery through juniper forests. The descent continues steadily to Gyabla, where you'll cross a bridge over the Chhundatangka River. After passing a nearby waterfall and crossing a suspension bridge over the Sumbung River, you'll reach Amjilosa.

- Day 16
Amjilosa to Hellok
From Amjilosa, you'll keep trekking and pass a nearby waterfall and the small Solima settlement. You'll cross a suspension bridge over Ghunsa Khola, then another bridge over Ghunsa Khola. The path takes you through several villages along Thunsa Khola, then follows the Tamor Nadi before arriving back at Hellok.

- Day 17
Hellok to Illam Bazaar
You'll drive from Hellok to Illam Bazaar in a private car or jeep, a journey of about 6 hours. Along the way, you'll see cardamom gardens and rice paddy fields while getting a sense of Nepali culture. In Illam, explore the business hub, a trading center between India and Nepal known for tea, cardamom, ginger, ghee, chili, and household goods.

Illam to Bhadrapur to Kathmandu
Traveling from Illam to Biratnagar by private jeep, you'll pass through tea gardens and stop at Kanyam to see Nepali lifestyle and tea garden views. If interested, pick up tea or local products at Fickal Bazaar or Kanyam. Then head to Bhadrapur airport for your domestic flight back to Kathmandu, arriving the same day.
