- Steve· August 10th, 2023Our experience was great. We went to 8 parks over the 12 days. We saw hundreds of elephants, zebras, buffalo, and wildebeests. Lots of times from 10 feet away in our pop-up Land Cruiser. We saw 2 Rhinos from distances of 400 feet, the Rhino is a rare creature. We saw 5 leopards and watched one hunt. Watch another with his dinner in a tree. We saw 3 cheetahs. We saw lots of giraffes. We saw 20 lions, lionesses or cubs. We saw 1 lioness complete a hunt. We had 3 guides as we traveled from Kenya to Tanzania and back to Kenya. The guides can only work in one country. We made a huge circle from park to park, starting and ending in Nairobi. Our first guide was Daniel, extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Had an eagle eye for spotting animals. Our second guide was Harun, he was even more knowledgeable not only about the animals, but culture, the county, and history. We were extremely impressed by Harun. Because we went to so many places, we stayed in a lot of lodges and tented camps. We booked last minute which made it a little challenging for the operator to get the best locations as they fill up quickly. My family loved the tented camps in the park, they were definitely "glamping"....Sound of Nature camp was our #1 stop with 24x7 solar power and hot water. Most lodges ran on diesel generators, so power was limited to 2 hours in the morning and 3 hours at night. You spend most of your time on game drives...so limited power isn't an issue. The food at the last place was amazing, homemade pizza and Naan bread. They even celebrated our wedding anniversary with us. The one negative is the roads. Most of the roads we traveled on were gravel, with a heavy rainy season, there are HUGE holes, be prepared to jostle a lot. Make sure to bring your yellow fever card, there seems to be a scam at the border crossing that is $50/pp for them to give you a card. When you cross the immigration officials said the card isn't needed. .Show more
- Kevin· March 3rd, 2023We had a great trip - the guides/porters were helpful and able to change plans a bit with us on the trail. I highly recommend Intrepid Explorer Tanzania for anyone looking to go up Kilimanjaro. The food was excellent, equipment top notch, and the team supportive every step of the way. I am already planning a return trip in a few years (on a different route) and plan to go with this company again because of the phenomenal experience.Show more
- yvette· March 20th, 2025An incredible experience. Blown away by the quantity and diversity of animals we encountered and especially how close we were able to get, whilst always respecting the rules (which not all drivers do!). Peter the guide and driver was exceptional. Drives between locations was long and the 'roads' are often appalling. If we were to do it again we would have picked the Landcruiser for this reason. Didn't affect our enjoyment of the safari itself, but Landcruiser would have been quicker and easier to pick its way through the roads. Dom deserved a driving award for how he got the minivan along some of those roads!Show more

Asked on January 13th, 2023Is there a group tour scheduled for August? I'm only one person so need a group tour to join. I might have a friend who would join but she is not vaccinated for covid (I am but she isn't), is your requirement to have a covid vaccination prior to joining the tour?
- Gracepatt Ecotours KenyaOperator•Written January 2023
Not fully vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers will be required to present a negative COVID-19 Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) or Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) certificate with QR code obtained within 72 hours before departure. Therefore your friend can join you preferable she bring PCR Negative result.

Traveler•Written February 2023Do the following two tent facilities have in suite bathrooms? Serengeti - Osinon Tented camp, Tarangire - Sangaiwe Tented Camp. Are three meals provided every day of the trip? Do you pick me up at the airport or do I need to find my own ride to Arusha? Will I have only one guide or a guide at each park? Will I have the same guide for the entire trip?

Traveler•Written April 2023I really was just interested in one day exploring the Selous National Park and one more day in the Serengeti National Park. I notice other tours spend more time in the Serengeti then your tour does. Or do you think the days you have in this trip adequately cover the park?
- Gracepatt Ecotours KenyaOperator•Written May 2023
3days at Serengeti national park is adequate and no need of spending more days at Serengeti as you will have covered the park by 3days. According to the itinerary it is not possible to spend one day at Selous National Park.
