Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Palermo
You'll arrive in Palermo and head to your hotel to settle in. The afternoon and evening are open, so you can relax in your room, grab a meal, or wander around the immediate area to get your bearings.

Monreale and Palermo
After breakfast at the hotel, you'll drive to Monreale to see the Arab-Norman Cathedral and its cloister, which are really something to see if you're into religious architecture and mosaics. Then back to Palermo where you'll check out the Cathedral, Church of the Martorana, and Palatine Chapel. Stop at a local bakery for some genuine Sicilian pastries, then head back to your hotel for the night.

Cefalù and Catania
Following breakfast, you'll travel to Cefalu, a medieval village where you can see the Norman Cathedral and walk through the historic old town streets. From there it's on to Catania, a UNESCO site famous for its baroque buildings. You'll check out the old fish market, walk around Piazza del Duomo with its Cathedral and the well-known Elephant monument, and try a local granita with brioche at a bar before checking into your hotel.

Mount Etna and Taormina
After breakfast, you'll visit a local fishmonger to see how the market works, then head up Mount Etna. You'll stop at Rifugio Sapienza and walk around the Crateri Silvestri volcanic cones, taking in the views of volcanic rock formations and the islands off the coast. Later, you'll visit a beekeeping farm to watch honey being extracted and taste some products. In the afternoon, drive to Taormina to explore the Greco-Roman theatre and enjoy the views before heading back to Catania.

You have the full day to explore Catania on your own after breakfast. Wander through the city's lively center, check out the markets, and see the historic buildings at your own pace without a set itinerary.

Syracuse, Noto, and Ragusa
Leave after breakfast for Syracuse to walk through the Archaeological Park of Neapolis, which was the largest Greek colony in Sicily. Then head to Ortigia, the old town, where you can see Piazza Duomo and the Cathedral. Continue to Noto, called the 'stone garden' for its baroque architecture, which is a UNESCO site. You'll finish the day in Ragusa and check into your hotel for dinner.

You'll visit Villa Romana del Casale, a UNESCO site from the late imperial period, followed by a chocolate tasting at a local maker. End in Agrigento with dinner at your hotel.

End up back in Palermo and check into your hotel.

Erice and Segesta
Your day starts in Erice, a town sitting 751 meters up on Mount San Julian. You'll walk through the narrow medieval streets and arches, visit the main church, and take in the history. In the afternoon, head to Segesta to see the well-preserved temple and theatre ruins from the 3rd century BC, located at 400 meters elevation. You'll return to Palermo in the evening for your last night.
