I travelled as a Solo traveller on English Highlights of Israel & Jordan tour over Christmas. In Israel our guide was Gadi, and our driver was Zed. In Bethlehem, Jonnie took over as our Palestinean guide for that part of the tour. The tour was busy, but never over-paced. I think the winter tours could do with dropping some of the later-in-the-day stops as it was often cold/dark and seemed rushed in the late afternoon's. I found everything interesting, with the Highlights being floating on The Dead Sea, Masada (but I'd love more time so I could trek up The Snake Track), Old Jerusalem (the full-day was great), Bethlehem on Christmas Day, The Golan Heights Winery & tasting, Haifa. Gadi was a patient guide with a wealth of knowledge that he was willing to pass on. Zed was the best coach driver I've seen in many years of travelling. He could manouvre the coach anywhere. He was also like a bodygaurd/security person. I always felt safe with him around. The crossing over into Jordan was slow, but would've been even slower without the help of Steve. In Jordan Mike was our guide & Ibrahim our driver. Bothe were great at therir jobs. Jerash was a surprise highlight with the Archeological site simply awesome. The Hotel (Grand Palace) in Amman was average, but it was only a place to sleep for one night. Petra was simply awesome. I would've preferred more time here, but as mentioned before, it gets dark early at this time of year. An idea might be to cut out Amman, and go straight to Petra after viewing Jerash. That way a full day could be had a Petra? Overall, I was very happy with this group tour & would recommend it to anyone. Please note that you need to be reasonably fit as some days have a decent amount of walking, and there's always steps & uneven surfaces. Thank You CTO. Steve TeRaki

Our tour of Israel and Jordan was excellent. Everything ran smoothly and we were impressed with the contact provided by the tour operators. At no point were we left guessing as to our transfers or tour details. We accidentally left an item on a coach and after contacting CTO, it was waiting for us when we returned to Israel. We would definitely recommend CTO to others.

We are a family of 4 adults and would like to know if we would be picked up daily from our hotel before we start the tour or do we need to find our own way and if so how far will the hotel be from the meeting point, before we set out for the day.

Why do the rates jump up by $200 extra if we start our tour from 30/7/23 to $2900 instead of $2700. Can anything be done about this rate so we pay the lesser rate instead but still starting the tour from 30/7/23.

    • P

      Pam

      TravelerWritten May 2023

Are the hotels 3 star or 4 star and how do we find out the names of the hotels we would be staying at. As we are a family how can we make sure that we are all staying together and if we live together will this be any cheaper for us.

    • P

      Pam

      TravelerWritten May 2023

Are we staying at a camp or a hotel while at Petra. Do we need to pay any border fees to get into Jordan and entrance fees to the places we will be visiting or is that included with the package fees.

    • Consolidated Tour OperatorsOperatorWritten May 2023

When you arrive to Tel Aviv Airport on 30th July you will be met and transfered to the hotel. The following day the tour begins and you are collected that morning from the hotel by the tour guide. You do not need to go to a meeting place the guide and tour vehicle come to the hotel to get you and start touring. The same happens each day.

    • Consolidated Tour OperatorsOperatorWritten May 2023

The rates are higher from 30th July as August is high season in the hotels and therefore this is reflected in the price.

    • Consolidated Tour OperatorsOperatorWritten May 2023

The tour rate is based on 3 star hotels and you have the option to choose higher standard at a supplement. If you are 4 people and have 2 rooms each with 2 people sharing that is the standard rate. 2 in a room is the maximum so either 2 rooms for 4 of you unless you all want separate rooms in which case you would also have to pay a single room supplement.

    • Consolidated Tour OperatorsOperatorWritten May 2023

The accommodation in Petra is in a hotel. The tour includes entry fees to all of the sites on the program. You need to pay border tax when you cross the border which equals approx. US$ 37 per person.

    Asked on January 17th, 2023

Would it be possible to have transportation from Amman to Tel aviv on the day 8 of the tour (30/apr)? Also, in the accomodation in Petra in bedouin camps?

    Accommodation
    Flights / Transfers
    • Consolidated Tour OperatorsOperatorWritten January 2023

Yes it is possible to return to Tel Aviv on 30 April instead of departing from Amman Airport. The overnight in Petra is in hotel not Bedouin camp.

      Sylvia

      TravelerWritten January 2023

What is the budget with the return to Tel Aviv on the 30 April instead of Amman Airport? Is it possible to share more information about the tour, namely time of the tours and hotels?

    • Consolidated Tour OperatorsOperatorWritten January 2023

To return to Tel Aviv on 30th April, the supplement is US$100. The tour price is based on standard Tourist Class hotels. Hotels are usually Sea Net in Tel Aviv, Prima Park in Jerusalem, Liwan in Amman, Amra Palace in Petra. Higher class hotels are also available. The tour usually sets off each morning around 08:00 and returns each day at around 17:00.

      Sylvia

      TravelerWritten March 2023

Would return to Tel Aviv on day 7 (saturday, 29/04) with overnight there instead of Amman also be an option? If so, would the supplement be USD100? Also, would it be possible to sleep in Petra on day 5 instead of Amman?

    • Consolidated Tour OperatorsOperatorWritten March 2023

Unfortunately you cannot return to Tel Aviv on Saturday as the border is closed by the time you return on that day. Also on day 5, the overnight is in Amman - not Petra, as this is the program of the tour.

    • S

      Sylvia

      TravelerWritten March 2023

Is it possible to get the jordan visa in the land border we are going to cross? Also, if my flight to Tel Aviv is canceled and I cancel the tour on 22/04 (or before), I will only pay $75.00 and the remaining amount will be reimbursed - did I understand that correctly?

    • Consolidated Tour OperatorsOperatorWritten April 2023

With Portuguese passport there is no problem. We arrange the visa waiver for you as long as we have the passport information in advance.

    • S

      Sylvia

      TravelerWritten April 2023

I have just realized there is a 24% single room supplement on top of the price of the tour. Any chance you could waive or reduce this?

    • Consolidated Tour OperatorsOperatorWritten April 2023

All of the hotels charge a supplement for single passengers in rooms, so unfortunately there is no way we can reduce or waive this fee.

Are the areas around the hotels safe to wander around? Wondering if I should book the dinners too

    • Consolidated Tour OperatorsOperatorWritten June 2022

Yes, there are a selection of different restaurants in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Amman, so it shouldn't be a problem to find somewhere and the areas are safe. If you prefer to just eat in the hotel after a day travelling, then you can book the dinner supplement - which is in Jerusalem and Amman (Tel Aviv for the first night anyway is without dinner if you book the supplement). Some people are happy to eat in the hotel, while others prefer to explore, so its entirely up to you.
