Itinerary
- Day 1
Lima
You'll be picked up at Lima airport and taken to your hotel to settle in. After dropping off your bags, head out for an afternoon in the city starting at the Magic Water Circuit, a huge modern fountain system with lots of choreographed shows. Finish the day with a dinner show before heading back to your hotel for the night.

Lima to Cusco
After breakfast, you'll get transferred to Lima airport for your flight to Cusco. Once you land and get to your hotel, there's an optional afternoon tour available. Walk through the Convent of Santo Domingo, which sits right over the Inca Temple of Qoricancha, then check out the Cathedral and head up to Sacsayhuaman fortress where you can see panoramic views of the city below.

Sacred Valley of the Incas
An early 7:30 am pickup gets you heading into the Sacred Valley. First stop is Pisac to wander through the indigenous market and look at handicrafts, then explore the archaeological remains carved into the mountainside. You'll drive through Calca and Urubamba where there's a buffet lunch with traditional stews, followed by a stop at Ollantaytambo to see its 500-year-old Inca site. Before heading back to Cusco around 7 pm, you'll pass through Chinchero with its multicolored terraced fields and a colonial church built right over an Inca palace.

Kilometer 82 to Llactapata
A 5:00 am pickup takes you to km 82 where the hiking starts. You'll climb for about 3 hours covering roughly 10 km until you reach the Llactapata archaeological site. After lunch, hike about 30 minutes more to reach Huayllabamba, a secluded Andean community. In the afternoon you'll set up camp and have dinner around 7:00 pm, with vegetarian options on the menu.

Warmiwaña to Pacaymayo Valley
You'll eat breakfast early and then climb for approximately 4 hours covering about 10 km to get to Warmiwaña peak at 4,200 meters/13,779 feet. Along the way you'll walk through different landscape types from dry puna grasslands to high jungle. After lunch around 2:00 pm, it's a 3-hour descent covering roughly 9 km down to Pacaymayo Valley, passing over wooden bridges and through tunnels plus rocky steps. You'll camp near the river and have dinner there.

Pacaymayo to Wiñay Huayna
Following an early breakfast, descend for 45 minutes to check out the Runkurakay archaeological complex and the Inca citadel Sayacmarca. Then head to Puya Patamarka for lunch and keep walking for 2 hours to the Wiñay Huayna archaeological site. If you booked at least 6 months in advance, you'll camp here with dinner around 7:00 pm, otherwise you'll stay at Puyapatamarka.

Machu Picchu
You'll wake around 5:00 am for breakfast, then hike for 1 hour through high jungle terrain to Inti Punku, also called the Gate of the Sun, which has beautiful views of Machu Picchu spread out below. After arriving, take a 2-hour guided tour of the main sites and then spend some time exploring on your own. Late afternoon brings a walk down to Aguas Calientes where you'll meet at the train station 30 minutes before your departure to Ollantaytambo, then a private bus brings you back to Cusco and drops you at Plaza de Armas.

Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca)
You'll be picked up around 4:30-5:30 am and drive south through Urcos to Checacupe district, which takes about 2 hours. Keep going through Pitumarca for breakfast, then travel through several hamlets to reach the Hanchipata-Quesiuno community where the trek begins. Hike for roughly 3 hours to Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain) peak and spend about an hour taking in the views. Head back down and return to Pitumarca for lunch before the drive back to Cusco.
