Colombo
You'll arrive at Colombo Bandaranayke International Airport where your tour representative will meet you in the arrivals lobby. From there, transfer to Colombo city to check out the commercial and financial heart of Sri Lanka. Walk through areas with colonial buildings, performing arts centres, and Independence Square. See St. Paul's Church, the National Museum, and Colombo Fort. The bustling Pettah bazaar area gives you a feel for local commerce and street life. Overnight in Colombo.

Colombo - Negombo - Anuradhapura
After breakfast, head towards Anuradhapura with a stop in Negombo, a traditional fishing village where you can watch the active fishing community hauling catch from the sea and working the fish market. The Dutch fort there offers glimpses into Sri Lanka's colonial history. Later in the afternoon, you'll arrive in Anuradhapura to explore the ruins of the first Royal capital founded in the 5th century BC, with numerous ancient monuments, stone sculptures, and famous Buddha statues throughout. Overnight in Anuradhapura.

- Day 3
Anuradhapura - Aukana - Sigiriya
After breakfast, travel to Sigiriya in the Cultural Triangle region. En route, stop to visit the 12-meter Aukana Buddha statue, a famous stone sculpture carved during the 5th century reign of King Dhatusena. The statue's features are beautifully illuminated at dawn. Continue to Sigiriya to explore Lion's Rock, an ancient palace complex over 1000 years old with landscaped gardens, water fountains, and the famous Sigiriya Apsara paintings. Relax at your hotel for the night.

Sigiriya - Polonnaruwa - Medirigiriya
After breakfast, head out on an excursion to Polonnaruwa, the second ancient capital city with well-preserved ruins of palaces, monasteries, brick structures, temples, and monuments. Visit the Parakrama Samudra, a massive manmade lake built during King Parakrama Bahu the Great's reign. In the late afternoon, travel to Medirigiriya to see the Vatadage, a circular stage with three concentric circles of pillars and decorated stone walls, remarkably well-preserved despite its ancient origins. Return to your hotel for the night.

Polonnaruwa - Dambulla - Matale - Kandy
After breakfast, depart for Kandy with a stop at the Dambulla cave complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site from the 3rd and 2nd centuries BC and one of Sri Lanka's largest monasteries. It's good for bird watching too. Continue to Nalanda Gedige, known as the Abu Simbel of Sri Lanka, with unique Buddhist-Hindu hybrid architecture and sculpture. Stop at a spice garden and batik factory in Matale. Arrive in Kandy in the afternoon and visit the Temple of Tooth, Sri Lanka's most sacred Buddhist establishment, at the evening ceremony. Overnight in Kandy.

- Day 6
Kandy
After breakfast, drive about an hour to Pinnawala to visit the Elephant Orphanage, home to about 85 elephants. You'll watch and feed baby elephants, then observe the herd bathing in the nearby river in the morning and afternoon. Return to Kandy for afternoon sightseeing around Bogambara Lake with its cool breeze and insights into local life. Visit the Kandy Museum in the former Royal Palace's Queens Quarters, featuring Kandyan architecture and displays of historical and modern handicrafts, weapons, jewellery, and artefacts. Catch a cultural dance performance in the evening before returning to your hotel.

After breakfast, visit the Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya, known for housing Asia's largest collection of orchids and diverse plant varieties. The gardens date back to the kingdom era and were developed during the British Colonial period. Leave for Nuwara Eliya, the centre of the hill country, stopping en route to visit a tea plantation and see how world-famous Ceylon tea is manufactured. Explore Nuwara Eliya (known as 'Little England') with its unique climate and attractions including Gregory's Lake, Race Course, Victoria Park, The Golf Club, and the old Brick Post Office Building. Take in views from Shanthipura city viewpoint and spend the evening walking in the cool climate. Overnight in Nuwara Eliya.

Nuwara Eliya - Ella - Buduruwagala - Yala National Park - Tissamaharama
After breakfast, depart for Tissamaharama region, stopping at Ella to see magnificent views, then visiting Buduruwagala. Ella serves as a base for trekking expeditions with scenery including Ella Gap, Rawana Ella Falls, Little Adams Peak, and Bambaragala Peak. Many people do trekking and hiking activities here, ascending Little Adams Peak for scenic beauty and physical challenge. At Buduruwagala, see seven colossal figures carved from a rock face, with the rock itself resembling a kneeling elephant. In the afternoon, take a safari at Yala National Park by jeep to explore the wilderness. You might see wild elephants in small and large herds, spotted deer throughout the park, monkeys like the Pinkish Rhesus and Grey-faced Langur, wild buffalo, wild boar, and possibly leopards. Continue to Tissamaharama for overnight stay.

Tissamaharama - Kataragama - Weligama - Galle
After breakfast, visit Kataragama, a great pilgrim shrine dedicated to Skanda, a popular Hindu deity among Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, and indigenous Vedda communities of Sri Lanka and South India. The annual Esala Maha Perahara festival runs July to August during the full moon and features flag hoisting ceremonies, fire walking, Kavadi dances, and traditional devotee practices. Pilgrims visit year-round. Travel to the South Coast, viewing the stilt fishermen of Weligama en route. Visit Galle, a city with colourful history and the magnificent Portuguese-Dutch fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the town's most popular attraction. The 300-year-old Dutch atmosphere remains alive around the fort and its historical buildings. See the Dutch Reformed Church, unique for its lack of interior pillars. Galle was Sri Lanka's earliest European administrative centre for over 4 centuries. Stay at a beach hotel and relax for the night.
