  === Charming Paris & Loire Valley - 7 Days (Small Group) === Being with a group, travelling with a guide who is familiar with the area, any dangers, and who can help me navigate the language gives me a level of security I wouldn’t feel otherwise. This is exactly why I choose “Fully Guided”, “Small Group”. tours. This is not that.// Instead it is a package of hotels, tours, and a train and taxi transfer, provided by 3rd parties, booked through Click Tours. This is a deal breaker, when travelling safety is one of the most important things for me. Had this been clear at any point ahead of our arrival I would have gone with someone else, and is why I’ve only rated at 1 star.// If there were other travellers in our group we never saw them, and if there was a guide (with or without “Small-Group Driver-guided Exploration of Paris by van”) we never met them, we were left entirely to fend for ourselves and expected to arrive at location X at time Y. That itself was problematic as our vouchers for a couple of the tours quoted conflicting information, one with two different meet times, one with three different meet locations. Both queries were resolved in time for us to get to the right place at the right time but if we hadn’t shown up I don’t think anyone would have been looking for us.// We also had trouble with a discount not being applied at the time of booking and with one of the tours being cancelled. Click Tours did offer us a replacement but we didn’t feel it was equivalent in value to the cancelled tour and chose to take it as a refund and free day to ourselves.// In summary, the rest of the tour was good:// Paris, Hotel Trianon Rive Gauche: Good// Walking tour of Île de la Cité, and some of the surrounds: Good// Seine river cruise: Good// Louvre Museum tour: Good// (Optional) Excursion to Versailles: Average// Tours, Hampton by Hilton: Good// Château de Chenonceau & Château de Chambord tour: Good// Four Incredible Castles Tour tour: Cancelled// Also worth noting: Paris is a country under scaffolding. While I expected this to be the case for Notre Dame, the country as a whole seems to be investing heavily in restoration ahead of their hosting of the 2024 Olympics. This meant almost half of the places we viewed had some kind of construction obscuring the sights.
