Itinerary
- Day 1
Merano
Start your time in Merano by walking through the arcaded streets and getting a feel for the town's layout. The Passer promenade is perfect for a leisurely afternoon stroll, and you'll understand why Empress Sissi was drawn to this spa town. Take your time wandering and maybe grab lunch at one of the cafes tucked into the arcades before heading back to settle in.

- Day 2
Merano to Lana
Head out early for the Marlinger Waalweg hike, which follows South Tyrol's longest irrigation canal trail. The path takes you through deciduous forests toward Lana, the region's apple town. After passing through Tesimo, known for its chestnuts, you'll notice the landscape opening up with views of Merano and the Adige Valley. The walk passes through a castle-rich area, so keep an eye out for these structures dotting the hillsides.

- Day 3
Lana to Bolzano
This day involves higher elevation trails along the Three Castles Route, where you'll pass several castles and fortresses with good views throughout. The route takes you through Appiano, a wine-growing village where you can see vineyards terracing the slopes. Later, catch a short bus ride to Bolzano and find a table on Walther Square for cappuccino in one of the arcaded cafes. Spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the city's streets and shops.

Bolzano
Use this final day to wander Bolzano on your own schedule. Check out neighborhoods you might have missed, return to shops or cafes you enjoyed, or simply relax before your departure. The city has plenty to see if you want to fill the time, but there's no structured itinerary, so you can move at whatever pace suits you.
