The additional tours were fun and more informative than running in town on your own, highly recommend it. Cons: VPT bus had limited or no WiFi. Bus had no restroom. VPT tour guide tried her best to provide information about the locations but couldn’t be understood due to the lack of English translation and was flipping from Spanish to English with limited translations. VPT guide was not informative guide information. We had to keep asking questions about location information to include hotel info and local information for interested shopping. Overall I would recommend Highlights of Spain & Portugal but I would go with another travel agent not VPT.Show more
Trip date: March 2025 - Mary· March 30th, 2025Our primary tour leader was kind and responsive and kept us going from place to place. Local tours were very good. Itinerary was great - there were a few spots (Trujillo and Cáceres) that I wish we had had more time in. They were designated lunch stops, but they were very interesting and we didn’t get to explore them much at all.It was a little disconcerting to have people join up and leave at several stops, until we were the ones who left and joined another group. Had not understood that this would be how the tour was conducted. Felt like a hop on hop off local trolley tour. Was disappointing in that. - Travis· March 26th, 2025We really enjoyed our trip! The only reason for the 4 stars was due to the gas station/stop locations. I think they could plan for better places to stop. Their buses are forced to stop by law every 1.5 hours or 2 hours. One of the stops didn't have toilet seats in the bathrooms. Food was not great at these locations. It is not specified that you will spend time in these cities, you just leave and arrive to them. Day 1, departure from our bus terminal (clearly the departure is from Madrid but no time is spent in this city). Last day in Barcelona, arrival to Barcelona and end of our services, no services included in this city.

The maximum luggage allowance, due to bus luggage capacity, is one 20 kg suitcase plus a hand bag. We do not send passenger suitcases to other cities, you will have to arrange this directly with a transport company.

How is the setup during lunch if not included in the package? Tour guide will take us to a place with many restaurants/fastfood and we can select on our own? 3. How is the set-up during the Holy Mass? Will we do them on churches on a regular mass schedule? 4. Can we bring priest/nun with us to facilitate the prayers/preaching while traveling? Regarding lunch, it depends on the itinerary. If it's on the road, the bus usually stops at a service area and gives free time to eat. Similarly, if you're in a city, like Burgos or Fátima, they will have free time to have lunch at any restaurant on your own. Dinners, if you choose the half-board option, will be served at the hotel.
Regarding Masses, it would depend on availability at each location. You can bring a priest to celebrate Masses and prayers.
As I indicated in the budget, it is a private group, without sharing services with other groups.
