Arrival in Tunis
You'll arrive in Tunis and get transferred to your hotel in Gammarth. Once you settle in, dinner happens at the hotel that evening.

Sidi Bou Said
Start by checking out the central market in Tunis, where you'll find fresh produce, spices, and local goods everywhere. From there, the Bardo Museum is next on your list. Later you'll head to Sidi Bou Said, a small artists' village where white and blue houses line the alleyways. Spend time wandering around, stopping at cafes, and taking in the local vibe.

Tunis Old Town
Walk through the ancient ruins of Carthage, which is a UNESCO site. You'll see Punic and Roman excavations from this old Mediterranean trading port. After that, head into Tunis' old town, also UNESCO-listed. Navigate through the maze of alleyways, check out the colorful bazaars, and try negotiating with local traders in the market.

Landmarks Carthage Ruins Medina of Tunis - Day 4
Dougga - Kairouan
First you'll see Bulla Regia, one of Tunisia's major Roman sites with underground residential buildings still showing original mosaics. Then continue to Dougga, a UNESCO site with temples, villas, cisterns, a capitol, and theater that's considered the best-preserved archaeological location in Tunisia. By evening, you'll be in Kairouan, the fourth holiest city in Islam.

Tozeur
Take a guided tour through Kairouan's old town, visiting the Sidi Okba mosque (the oldest Islamic building in Tunisia) and the Barber Mosque with its intricate arabesques. You'll also see 9th-century Aghlabid water basins and the Roman ruins of Sufetula. In the evening, head to Tozeur, an oasis town on the Chott el Djerid salt lake.

Tozeur Old Town
Spend half the day in comfortable jeeps exploring three mountain oases: Chebika, Tamerza, and Mides. You'll see dramatic canyons, date palm gardens, and waterfalls (some landscapes here appeared in 'The English Patient'). Return to Tozeur and explore the old town with its distinctive mud-brick architecture.

Douz
Walk through Tozeur's old town and visit the Eden Palm ecomuseum to learn about how locals grow palms and dates. Wander the oasis and its narrow alleyways with small canals where fruit and vegetables grow year-round. Then cross the massive Chott el Djerid salt lake with its white salt formations, ending up in Douz at the Sahara's edge.

El Djem - Mahdia
See the underground cave village of Matmata and learn how Berber families live in these dwellings. Drive through olive groves in the Sahel region as El Djem's amphitheater comes into view. Stop at the archaeological museum to see architectural pieces, then continue to Mahdia for the night.

Monastir - Sousse - Hammamet
Start in Mahdia's old town on the Cap. From there, head to Monastir to see the first Islamic monastery castle in North Africa and Bourguiba's mausoleum. Later you'll reach Sousse and stroll through its medieval old town (a UNESCO site) with winding alleyways. Then drive to Hammamet for your final accommodation.

Hammamet
Visit Zaghouan at the foot of a 1,295-meter mountain and see the Temple of Neptune. Return to Hammamet and walk through the white alleyways of the old town. Check out the International Cultural Center at Villa Dar Sebastian, set in a nice Mediterranean garden. The rest of the day is yours to relax and do as you please.

Hammamet (Free Day)
The day is open for you to spend as you like in Hammamet. If you're interested, there's an optional trip to the Cap Bon peninsula, known for fishing, orange groves, and ceramic work. You can visit artist studios in Nabeul pottery town and see Kerkouane, the only Punic city in North Africa (UNESCO-listed).
