Reviews of Small Group tours to Tunisia
- Taste of Tunisia, Small Group Tour
From start to finish, this tour was excellent! Three days was a perfect amount of time to accomplish the itinerary and it felt like we hit all the cultural/historical highlights of Tunisia. My friend and I were the only people on the tour. The tour coordinator, Ekbel, was very helpful in confirming our planned flights would fit with the tour itinerary. She was also quick to reply to any questions and professional throughout. Our guide, Aswan, was knowledgeable and presented Tunisia's history in an easy-to-understand manner. He also answered our varied questions. He's a walking Tunisian almanac. :) Ayash, our driver, made us feel safe while traveling and was very personable. Along with Aswan, he was able to share humorous and wonderful insights about this beautiful country. Our trip was wonderful and memorable. I absolutely recommend Tunisie Voyages and this tour!

- Highlights of Tunisia, Small Group Tour
This itinerary was absolutely fantastic! We came in a day early and started the tour the next day from Tunis. We also stayed a couple of days after in order to visit the Tunis medina which I highly recommend. It is a great way to see the historic and ancient sites, as well as the many varieties of geography in Tunisia. We also did the oasis tour which was optional and it was really worth it. Mondher was very knowledgeable, passionate about Tunisia and his work, and efficient. He met us every morning at the prescribed time and told us what was in store for the day. He gave us information along the road about Tunisia and at the particular sites. There was just the right amount of free time allotted. At the end of the day, he told us what we would be doing the next day and at what time to meet. This turned out to be a private tour which I was not expecting. Maybe there weren't enough English speakers for this particular tour at this time, but anyway it was nice. We had a large Toyota Land Cruiser which was very comfortable for the guide, the two of us, and the driver, along with our luggage and purchases along the way. I really appreciated our safe driver Jamal and our professional guide who became a friend. If you decide to take this tour ask for Mondher, you won't be sorry. The only slight criticism that I have is around communication with the actual tour company. At less than one week before the tour, I had not heard from them. I wrote to them with my questions about pick up, transfers, etc., and they responded right away with the information. The same thing happened at the end of the tour. I had to contact them to find out about pick up time. It would be more professional and less stressful for the traveler if the tour company was more proactive about offering this information. This was a small thing and in the end, everything came together.
What our customers ask about Tunisia Small Group Tours
What is the typical small group size for tours in Tunisia?
Small group tours in Tunisia keep numbers between 8-12 travelers allowing for easier navigation through places like the Medina of Tunis and the archaeological sites of Carthage. The smaller size means guides can give more individual attention at key locations and cultural sites. Groups staying at the Majestic Hotel in Tunis find the intimate size beneficial for local interactions. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "Our small group of 8 made it possible to really interact with locals and have in-depth cultural experiences that wouldn't be possible with larger groups."
What type of accommodation is provided on small group tours in Tunisia?
Tours include stays at carefully chosen 4-5 star hotels across Tunisia with priority given to location and cultural character. Guests often stay at established properties such as the Golden Tulip Taj Sultan in Hammamet or El Mouradi Palace in Sousse. These hotels blend modern comforts with local architecture and design. A TourRadar traveler mentions: "The boutique hotels were a highlight - staying at the Dar ALOUINI in Kairouan and Palm Beach Palace in Tozeur gave us a real sense of traditional Tunisian hospitality."
How much interaction is there with local communities on small group tours?
The smaller group format creates natural opportunities to connect with local communities. Travelers visit Berber families in Matmata and meet craftspeople in Nabeul's pottery workshops. Properties like Diar El Barbar in Matmata serve as bases for these cultural exchanges. A TourRadar traveler shared: "Our small group size made it possible to have dinner with a local family and learn about traditional cooking methods - something that wouldn't work with a large group."
What dining experiences are offered on small group tours in Tunisia?
Tours combine meals at established restaurants with special dining experiences at local homes. The small group size lets travelers eat at family-run establishments in historic areas like Kairouan and Tozeur as well as hotel restaurants such as El Mouradi Palace. One TourRadar traveler noted: "The intimate group size meant we could dine at small family-run restaurants and experience real Tunisian hospitality."
How does transportation work on small group tours in Tunisia?
Groups travel in modern minibuses or 4x4 vehicles sized for 8-10 passengers. These vehicles are well-suited for Tunisia's varied terrain from city streets to desert paths. Accommodations like Ras El Ain Tozeur serve as convenient starting points for visits to remote locations including Star Wars filming sites. A TourRadar traveler mentioned "Our driver Louay did an amazing job getting us everywhere. With our small group size we had plenty of room to spread out during the longer drives."
How do small group tours handle desert excursions in Tunisia?
Desert experiences near Douz and Tozeur become more personal with smaller groups. Teams of 8-10 travelers work directly with Amazigh guides for tailored experiences. Hotels like the Sun Palm Douz help arrange private desert camps and camel rides. A TourRadar traveler shared "Our small group size made the desert experience magical - we had an intimate campfire dinner and could really connect with our local guides."
