Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Lima
Land at Lima Airport and head to your hotel to settle in. The city blends modern architecture with colonial history, so there's plenty to explore whenever you're ready. If you're not too tired from traveling, an optional dinner and light show at the Magic Water Circuit is available this evening, or you can simply rest after your flight.

- Day 2
Lima Old Town & Museums
After breakfast at the hotel, walk through Lima's old town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll see the Main Square and the 16th-century Cathedral, then check out Casa Aliaga, a colonial mansion that's been in the same family since conquistador Pizarro granted it centuries ago. Later, head to Pueblo Libre to visit the Larco Museum, set inside a restored viceregal mansion built on top of a pre-Columbian pyramid. The rest of your afternoon is open for wandering around on your own.

Lima to Cusco
Have breakfast, then transfer to the airport for a domestic flight to Cusco. Once you arrive and check into your hotel, spend the afternoon exploring this former Inca capital. Visit Santo Domingo Convent, a Renaissance-baroque structure built right over the Inca Coricancha temple that was dedicated to sun worship. See the Cathedral on the Main Square, then drive up into the hills to see Sacsayhuaman fortress with its wide views of the city below, plus the temple and amphitheatre at Qenqo and Puka Pukara, a military complex with original dwellings, plazas, bathrooms, and aqueducts still visible.

Sacred Valley: Moray & Maras
After breakfast, travel about 90 minutes into the Sacred Valley toward Moray, where you'll see mysterious concentric circular terraces built at different elevations, each with its own microclimate. Next, head to Maras to walk through thousands of salt ponds that local families still harvest today, just as they did during Inca times when this was a major economic resource. Then drive back to your hotel in Cusco.

Cusco to Aguas Calientes & Machu Picchu
Following breakfast, transfer to Ollanta Station to catch a train through dramatic Andean scenery toward Aguas Calientes. From the station, take a 25-minute coach ride up to Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas. Built in the 1450s as a retreat for emperor Pachacuti, this well-preserved site stayed hidden from Spanish conquistadors and got swallowed by jungle for centuries. A guide shows you the main structures and areas, then you'll head back down to Aguas Calientes for lunch at the well-known Café Inkaterra, a thatched-roof place between the railway and the mountainside.

Aguas Calientes to Cusco
Start with breakfast at your hotel and keep the morning relaxed. If you want, head back to Machu Picchu on your own to see areas you might have missed (a second ticket and bus access depend on availability). Another option is Huayna Picchu, about 1,180 feet above the citadel with an underground temple inside, or Inti Punku at roughly 1,280 feet for views from above (both have limited space). In the afternoon, get to Aguas Calientes station to board the train back toward Ollanta, then transfer to your Cusco hotel.
