- Julia· December 5th, 2022I just had a tour of Italy with Contiki- don't use them- they r horrible! Our group had 53 people! Hotels- like u r staying at a truck stop- tiny beds, outlets don't work, horrible breakfast. Any excursions u want to do- have to pay extra. Tour guide- bad. I paid for the tour almost 3K and it was so horrible I didn't even stay till the end!!Show moreContiki commented on this reviewWe sincerely regret to learn that you had not fully enjoyed the Italian Espresso itinerary, and that there may have been a few aspects that took away from your overall experience. - JJodie· January 8th, 2018The trip was amazing, our trip manager Martina Musso made the trip worth it, she was the best trip manager we had on our trip, we got to experience the culture of Italy and Martina helped us understand that and showed us the different things Italians do in ItalyShow moreTrip date: August 2016
- JJennifer· January 8th, 2018I went on the Contiki Italian Espresso tour, which tours Rome, Florence, and Venice over a week. The tour was efficient in taking you to many different cities, and the tour bus from city to city was extremely convenient. One downside of going in a big tour group is that the group dinners are not at the best restaurants, but that is to be expected. Wifi on the bus was limited, but hotels were nice with AC and wifi in all of the rooms. Breakfast included in every hotel stay made mornings much easier! By far, the most excellent part of my trip was our tour guide, Martina. Martina was extremely knowledgable about Italian history and culture, and kept the trip exciting even on long bus ride. Her playlists were on point! She was able to help with any problem, and very easy to talk to. I would recommend a Contiki tour just to have Martina's help.Show moreTrip date: August 2016
- MMargo· May 6th, 2017I have been on two tours with Matei and she really is the best! She's super fun, friendly and patience with everyone!Show moreTrip date: October 2014
- AAmanda· May 6th, 2017I had such a great time on tour with Maïté! She made sure everything rand smoothly even when unforeseen circumstances arose. I remember me and my fiend d wanted to go to the Uffizzi in Florence but didn't know if we would be able to fit it in with the schedule since there is a big wait for tickets. Maïté was so kind and considerate and stood in line for us while we were on another supervised tour. I don't think every tour guide would take the time to do this. Maïté really cares that the people on her tour have a good time, and I did!Show moreTrip date: June 2013

Asked on July 23rd, 2024Is it possible to go to this tour alone? There will be plus expenses because of it? Just asking for future reference. Probably I will not travel now, maybe next year.
- ContikiOperator•Written July 2024
It is possible to go on the tour alone. The overall cost of the trip will remain the same. If you prefer a single room, a single supplement fee will apply. If you choose a twin shared room, you will be paired with another solo traveler of the same gender. Contiki trips have an age restriction and are only available to travelers aged 18-35 years old.

Asked on May 19th, 2024We are interested in a tour but see the age range goes up to age 35 only. We are active 70's age. So does that mean we cannot go? Italian expresso winter is tour we like, b/c we want to see Venice and Cinque de Terre.
- ContikiOperator•Written May 2024
Apologies, all our Contiki tours are strictly for travellers ages 18 to 35 years old only. We are unable to accommodate travellers outside of this age range.

Asked on January 19th, 2023Do you have any tours comparable to the Contiki tours that are made for older folks that still have great health. Everything thing I find is for the under 35 crowd. ie: Italian Expresso tours
- ContikiOperator•Written January 2023
Contiki Holidays has created a product specifically for the enjoyment of travelers in the 18-35 age group. We have a responsibility to adhere to our promise of travel for 18-35's and provide the type of holiday our travelers expect. We do hope you can understand that we cannot accept travelers outside of these parameters. If you are looking for a similar experience, we recommend checking out Costsaver Tours and Trafalgar Tours. If you're looking for something a little different, why not check out our river cruises at U by Uniworld!

Asked on July 24th, 2022how strict are your age range rules, I'm a young 42 year old and the Italian espresso trio seems perfect for me apart from the age range
- ContikiOperator•Written July 2022
Unfortunately, the trip you have enquired about is a youth specific tour run by Contiki and geared exclusively towards younger travellers between the ages of 18-35. They are sadly unable to make any exceptions to this. These trips are very popular with backpackers and university students who are going on vacation looking for a heavy focus on nightlife and are happy to use budget multi-share hostels as accommodation (4 to 6 people to a room, in bunk beds and shared bathrooms).

Asked on July 16th, 2022Is airfare included in the price?
- ContikiOperator•Written July 2022
International airfare is not included in our trip prices and does need to be arranged independently.

Asked on May 31st, 2022I wanted to ask which hotels we will be staying at or at least when we would have more details on the accommodation as I'm planning to book for the 12th. I also wanted to ask if it would be possible to check in early or leave my baggage at the hotel on the first day as I will be arriving around 9 am.
- ContikiOperator•Written June 2022
If you have a booking, the pre-trip hotel in Rome will be the Hotel Genova Rome. Check-in is at 2pm and early check in will be based on availability when you arrive at the hotel. I recommend asking if there is a room available when you arrive. If not, the hotel does offer luggage storage.

Asked on May 24th, 2022We are interested in your Italian Espresso (10 Days). Web-page shows Age range:18 to 35, but we are 71 and 57 years old, both healthy. Can we join this tour?
- ContikiOperator•Written May 2022
Unfortunately the operator of this tour has advised that you exceed the age limit. Please let us know if you would like us to assist you further in finding your next trip.

Asked on April 11th, 2022Can we choose our own accommodation in Rome, Cinque Terre, Venice and could you send us a revised quote without these accommodations?
- ContikiOperator•Written April 2022
Unfortunately the accommodation sites are part of the complete trip package we offer. You are more than welcome to book your own accommodation in each destination but it would not change the trip price.

Asked on January 14th, 2022Can I travel in this group as a solo traveler and what is the difference in pricing due to the same. Also what level of hotels / accommodation is provided and can I choose specific hotels. How much can this be customised - example if I want to travel by train - is it possible
- ContikiOperator•Written January 2022
On average, between 60 and 70% of our travellers go solo so you won't be the only one. On our trips that use hotel accommodation, we can room you with another same-gender traveller so there is no single-supplement fee, or you can choose to have your own room for a little extra. Hotels is 3-4 stars. No you are not able to choose the hotel, it is a set accomodation. Our trips cannot be customized. Our trips is a set itinerary.
