Itinerary
- Day 1
Salta
Your day starts at 9th of July Square where you'll begin exploring Salta's historic centre. The area has several museums and monuments worth checking out, along with colonial architecture that gives you a real sense of the city's past. You'll see El Cabildo, the Cathedral, San Francisco's Church, and San Bernardo's Convent throughout the morning. After walking through those main attractions, head up to the top of San Bernardo's Hill for views over the city. Later in the day, you'll walk around the university campuses and San Lorenzo village. Before evening settles in, stop by the Craft Market to browse local goods and pick up any souvenirs you want. Then head back to your accommodation for the night.

- Day 2
Salta to Humahuaca Gorge to Salinas Grandes
You'll take Route 34 through Valle de Siancas, passing General Güemes town and driving past agricultural crops that cover the region. The road then takes you into UNESCO-declared Humahuaca's Gorge, which opens up to some different landscapes. Stop in towns like Tumbaya and Purmamarca, where you can see Seven Colors Hill, a rock formation that's famous in the area. You'll have time to explore local craftsmanship and see what artisans are making. After that, you cross over the Puna plateau to reach Salinas Grandes, and from there you'll descend the dramatic Cuesta de Lipán, which has switchbacks and views that drop away quickly.
