Kolkata
You'll arrive at Kolkata airport where an UncleSam Holidays representative meets you for the drive to your hotel. After settling in, the rest of your day is yours to relax and recover from travel.

Following breakfast, you'll have a full guided day through Kolkata hitting the major spots: Victoria Memorial Palace, Science City, a ride on the Metro Rail, Belur Math, Mother Teresa Home, and China Town before crossing the Vidyasagar Setu bridge. Later in the evening you can walk through the local markets to get a feel for the city's energy.

Kolkata to Sivasagar
After breakfast you'll check out and head to Kolkata airport for your flight to Dibrugarh. Once you land, an UncleSam Holidays rep will get you to Sivasagar, where you'll check into your hotel. The afternoon and evening are free for whatever you want to do.

Sivasagar
You'll start with breakfast then head to Sivasagar, the old capital of the Ahom Kings who controlled Assam for nearly 700 years starting in the 12th century. The temples and palaces here mix Indian and Southeast Asian design in interesting ways. You'll return to your hotel afterward with free time to spend as you like.

Sivasagar to Majuli Island
After breakfast you'll go to Nimati Ghat and take a ferry across the water for about 1.5 hours to reach Majuli Island, which has been the cultural center of Assamese life for the last five centuries. At your hotel you'll check in, then visit Uttar Kamalabari Satra to see the traditional monastery dance performed by monks. You'll have free time for the rest of the day.

Majuli Island to Kaziranga National Park
Following breakfast and checkout, you'll ferry back to Nimati Ghat and then transfer to Kaziranga National Park for a two night stay. Once you get there, the rest of the day is open for settling in and relaxing.

Kaziranga National Park
You'll do morning and afternoon jeep safaris through Kaziranga's central range with a professional naturalist guide. Indian elephants and one-horned rhinos often show up in good numbers here. In the evening you can choose to visit the Kaziranga Biodiversity Centre, which works on preserving local orchids and education about the region.

Kaziranga National Park
Starting early, you'll head out on a jeep or elephant-back safari with a naturalist to see the park's wildlife. Kaziranga holds the world's largest population of Indian rhinoceros and Indian elephants, plus around 15 species of threatened mammals like tigers, leopards, wild Asian water buffalo, and various primates. You'll return midday to refresh before an afternoon safari and get time to photograph whatever you see.

Kaziranga to Tezpur
After breakfast and checkout you'll drive to Tezpur and check into your hotel. Later you can explore the Da Parbatia temple from the sixth century, which has detailed carvings worth seeing. A cycle rickshaw ride through local bazaars takes you to Cole Park to check out the medieval stone sculptures there. The rest of the day is free.

Tezpur to Manas National Park
You'll drive to Manas National Park, Assam's tiger reserve, which sits along the border with Bhutan. The park's rivers and forests support 20 bird species including rare Bengal floricans, endangered mammals like golden langurs and wild bison, plus seasonal migratory birds. After checking into your hotel, you'll have free time to settle in.

Manas National Park
You'll start early with tea or coffee and then take an elephant ride through Manas with a naturalist guide. Back at the hotel for breakfast, you'll refresh before heading out on a jeep safari to more remote areas. You might spot one-horned rhinos, Asian elephants, tigers, leopards, golden langurs, and other rare species like the Assam roofed turtle and hispid hare. There's good opportunity for wildlife photography throughout the day.

Manas National Park to Guwahati
After breakfast and hotel checkout you'll drive to Guwahati, Assam's capital city, which sits between the eastern Himalayan foothills and serves as the gateway to seven northeastern states. You'll check into your hotel with the rest of your day free for leisure.

Guwahati
Following breakfast you'll take a guided tour of Guwahati starting at Kamakhya Temple, one of the oldest of the 51 Shakti Pithas dedicated to the mother goddess. Next you'll head to the Brahmaputra River to take a boat to Peacock Island, the world's smallest inhabited island, where you can visit the Shiva Temple. Then it's on to Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra, a cultural center named after a medieval poet and reformer. You'll return to your hotel with free time after.
