Itinerary
- Day 1
Athens to Nafplio
Starting south from Athens along the coast, you'll stop at the Corinth Canal for photos before heading to Asklepieion and the Theatre of Epidavros, a UNESCO site famous for its incredible acoustics. From there, it's on to Mycenae to see the Gate of the Lions, Royal Palace, and ancient tombs. The day wraps up in Nafplio where you'll climb the 999 steps up to Palamidi castle for views over the town.

- Day 2
Nafplio to Monemvasia
This route takes you through coastal Arcadia and the Kynouria region with its quiet bays and mountain views. You'll pass through villages like Leonidio and stop in the isolated coastal village of Kyparissi for lunch. Later, you head to the medieval port town of Gerakas and then to Monemvasia, a castle-city where you'll spend the night wandering through arched streets, past historic churches and traditional mansions.

- Day 3
Monemvasia to Gytheio
Traveling to ancient Sparta, you'll see the Evrotas river and a statue of Leonidas, plus visit the archaeological site and museum. Don't miss the Museum of Olive and Olive Oil if that interests you. After that, check out Mystras, a UNESCO site with Byzantine churches, monasteries, and the palace of the Palaiologoi emperors. The day ends in Gytheio, a coastal city in the Mani region, where you can walk along the dock and see the isle of Kranai.

- Day 4
Gytheio to Areopolis
You're heading through Eastern Mani's coastal villages and traditional tower settlements toward Cape Tainaro. Along the way, visit the temple of Poseidon and explore a cave believed to connect the underworld to the upper world. Hike up to the 1882 lighthouse at Cape Tainaro (Cavo Matapan), one of continental Europe's southernmost points. After lunch at a local fish tavern in Porto Kagio, you'll see the traditional settlements of Vathia and Gerolimenas before arriving in Areopolis.

Diros Caves
The Diros caves are the main event today, featuring beautiful lake caves throughout the area. You'll take a boat through the subterranean caves, traveling about 5,000 meters in roughly 30 minutes, then walk an additional 10 minutes seeing stalactites and stalagmites in shades of rose, green, amber, black, blood red, and purple. The evening is free, so grab dinner at a local tavern whenever you're ready.

Areopolis to Athens
Heading to Messinian Mani and Kalamata, you'll stop in Thalamai and Stoupa for photos of the sandy beach at Kalogria and Foneas gorge bay. Kardamili is next, a seaside village where you'll grab lunch and try some traditional food. Then it's to Kalamata itself to see the castle, Old Town, Ypapanti Square, 23rd March Square, the large beach, port, and Railway Municipal Park. You'll return to Athens by evening.
