Chennai to Pondicherry
You'll leave Chennai early and head toward Kanchipuram, where you can walk through several ancient temples including Kailasanathar and Ekambareswarar. The architecture here spans centuries, so you'll want to spend a couple hours taking it all in. After that, you're driving to Gingee Fort, which sprawls across three separate hillocks and offers some nice views of the surrounding landscape. It's a bit of a drive from Kanchipuram, so expect to arrive by early afternoon. From there, continue on to Pondicherry for the evening. Once you check into your hotel, you can head to the beaches to unwind after the day of traveling and sightseeing.
