  1. Day 1

    Rome to Verona to Venice

Meet your Trip Manager and the rest of your group this morning before heading out of Rome fairly early. The drive takes you north to Verona where you'll see the famous Romeo and Juliet balcony and walk through the Roman Arena, then it's on to Venice for the evening. You'll have time to get settled once you arrive but the real exploration happens tomorrow.

    Venice

Spend the entire day in Venice on your own terms. A private boat takes you through the canals to get to the main parts of the city, and from there you can choose your own adventure. Some people do a food tour or take a gondola ride, while others prefer just wandering through the streets and crossing bridges at their own pace to find hidden spots.

I LOVED this trip and wish I did the longer leg of it! My trip was a hop-on-hop off trip so I came on halfway through in Rome while most of the others began in London. I still think about Contiki all the time because it was so amazing and part of that was because of our tour guide Rianna. She made us all feel so welcome and safe and made sure was all have the best time on the trip!

Ri was the best tour manager! I met her the night before our trip started, she reached out to me and asked if I wanted to come and meet everyone for a drink. She made me feel super welcome and introduced me to everyone. She was so organised and made me feel really at ease about the whole trip. The itinerary was great, I thought the amount of days was also perfect and I didn’t feel too exhausted by the end of the contiki. Ri is so happy, bubbly and friendly!! She had sheets about each city we were going to with our itinerary, where we were staying, what to do if you didn’t do any ad ons. Our bus driver was amazing too! She organised games for the bus when we were all over it on long days, she had our daily song which was the first song played on the bus everyday - I still listen to it and it brings back so many memories. I will definitely be doing more contikis and I wish I could have her as my manager for all of them!!

Enjoyed the tour, however, there is not much down time if you do all the add-ons. For example, you may depart the hostel first thing, spend all day away, back to hostel at 445 and then dinner at 530, then another event and return to hostel at 930pm
