Itinerary
- Day 1
Chennai to Kanchipuram to Mahabalipuram
Head out early from Chennai toward Kanchipuram to visit four temples throughout the morning. You'll check out the Kailasanathar Temple, built in the 8th century, and then move on to Ekambareswarar Temple where there's a 3500-year-old mango tree on the grounds. After grabbing lunch on your own, drive to Mahabalipuram and walk through the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The afternoon takes you to Shore Temple, Pancha Rathas (rock-cut temples), Arjuna's Penance bas-relief, and Krishna's Butter Ball before heading back to Chennai by evening.
