Laurence· August 20th, 2023We thought the first half was better than the second half. We particularly liked learning about the troubled history in the north. The walking tour in Derry was excellent and we enjoyed learning about the "peace wall" in Belfast. Another highlight was the Celtic Steps, but this was an extra and the last night in Dublin tended to double-up on this experience (but was not as good). We also enjoyed the beautiful scenery that Ireland has to offer, especially the Cliffs of Mohir and other areas of natural beauty. The second half of the tour did not seem to have as much included; and we felt more left on our own. This was often mid-afternoon when there was not time to organize activities other than shopping which is not a great interest for us. Sometimes the commentary became repatitive, even the jokes. We were particularly disappointed in Dublin where we only did a quick drive-around and had a dinner on the last night. It would have been nice to have something organized there, perhaps a visit to the Gaol or the Guinness Distillery. We would have preferred that the last night was just spent at a dinner with our group rather than a large generic function. This way, we could have said our goodbyes properly. Even a pub visit with Irish music would have been a great alternative. Overall, it was enjoyable. We enjoyed the friendship of the group and learning more about Irish history and culture.
