Itinerary
- Day 1
Hanoi to Vu Linh
Your motorbike adventure starts by riding along dyke roads that follow the Red River toward Thac Ba Lake. The route takes you through countryside with rice paddies and green tea fields, and you'll pass through Vu Linh village where the Dzao ethnic minority lives. That night you'll stay at a local homestay to settle in.

Vu Linh to Ha Giang
After eating breakfast, you'll ride your motorcycle along Thac Ba Lake on a small road lined with palm trees and mountain views. The route heads up to Ha Giang on main Road 2, where you'll stop for the night. Today also includes getting your permit sorted, which you'll need for riding in the border areas ahead.

- Day 3
Ha Giang to Dong Van
With your permit in hand, you'll tackle challenging mountain roads through colorful hill-tribe territories. You're heading up the Ma Pi Leng Pass between Dong Van and Meo Vac near Vietnam's northernmost point, where you'll see views of cloudy mountain ranges and the Nho Que River below. From there, a zig-zag track takes you to Vuong Family's Residence, a wood and rock structure with Chinese architecture in Sa Phin valley. You'll finish by checking out ancient Dong Van Town with its old H'mong homes made of clay bricks and tile.

- Day 4
Dong Van to Ba Be National Park
You'll cross through Ha Giang Province's wild regions, riding through Meo Vac on the Rock Plateau at elevations over 1,000m. The riding goes through areas where H'mong, King, Tay, and Dzao ethnic groups live. In the afternoon, you head down to Bac Kan Province and take a local boat across the Na Hang Hydro Power Factory reservoir to a village near Dau Dang Waterfall in Ba Be National Park. Tonight you're at a local homestay.

Ba Be National Park to Hanoi
Start early since this is mostly travel time. After breakfast, take another boat ride across Ba Be Lake to the other side, then get back on your motorcycle toward Cho Ra and head up to main Road 3. The return to Hanoi on Road 3 gets busier with traffic, so timing matters to skip the rush hour congestion. You'll pass through Ba Be National Park, which has a unique freshwater karst lake and rare plants and animals.
