- Valbona· September 19th, 2022The tour guide, Ed, and the driver, Abby, were amazing hosts to all of us. They did a great job helping us through the hotel changes as well as walking us through the history of each location we visited. The choice of hotel in Tobermory could have been a bit better, while they had beautiful views we could not take a shower in the room as the shower head was not connected to the water. Also, the beds were overused and we could feel the springs in our backs. All other locations were perfect. Thank you.Show moreTrip date: September 2022
- SSandy· September 4th, 2022Fabulous tour of Scotland. 16 people in a small very comfortable smaller bus lead by Tom, a man who is a storyteller of all things Scotland. Our days were balanced with scenic backroad driving with tourist stops, camera stops, comfort stops and coffee/ tea stops. Our day in Inverness included a stop to drop off laundry and a walking tour of the town with the afternoon to wander - a perfect place to do your own thing. My favorite days were in the islands Skye, Mull, Iona, smelling the sea air and taking ferries to new discoveries.Show moreTrip date: August 2022
- LLynneWade· May 22nd, 2022Wonderful tour with the best, most professional, friendly, kind, and fun tour guide any traveler could hope for. Flavio Lotrettzo was outstanding in his ability to quickly have members bond as a cohesive group, feel comfortable with other, and develop a sense of unity. Thanks to Flavio, this was the best tour I have ever taken. I would highly recommend Blue Roads as an excellent tour company.Show moreTrip date: May 2022
- Debbie· September 30th, 2019Great trip in all ways. Stayed in lovely hotels with great food. Abi was a great driver and Warrick went above and beyond.Show moreTrip date: September 2019
- PSPaul· September 7th, 2019Pre-trip information from Blue Roads/Tourradar was late and lacked details. Confusion over what company was conducting the Trip, Back Roads or Blue Roads. Problem with travel insurance: Tourradar said it was recommended, Blue Roads said it was required, but their recommended travel insurance company would not insure individual over age 70. Group of 20. Emails said to call with questions, but no telephone number was given. No introduction meeting by name and where from. Told I had to do this on my own during the trip. Trip leader and driver were professional and areas visited were interesting. Hotel were okay, but locations could have been better, especially when meals were not included and no options existed.Show moreTrip date: August 2019

- MJMary· September 23rd, 2018It was a wonderful trip. Our bus driver, Steve was excellent. Tom McGiver, our tour guide gave us a full background of the history of Scotland. We wound up in the tail end of Helene, so couldn't visit Iona because ferries weren't running but had a very nice experience shopping/sightseeing in ToberMorey. Really had a good time!Show moreTrip date: September 2018
- MBMark· May 15th, 2018This was a very good and very thorough itinerary. The guide and driver were excellent, and the accommodations were largely decent. My main concern is with the coach itself. The seats are very tightly packed, and taller passengers might find comfort to be a challenge. I am very tall, and the guide and the group were gracious enough to let me have the one seat that I could sit straight ahead in. I get that this may be a necessary evil to keep the prices reasonable (and eliminating a few seats would necessarily increase the price per passenger),Show moreTrip date: May 2018

Asked on April 14th, 2023We are in the process of planning a trip to visit Scotland this July or August 2023. On the Isle of Mull, we would like to see the area of Lochbuie. We have tracked down our ancestry in that area, and it is one of the most important areas that we want to visit. We are looking for someone to take us to that area and tour us around with compensation of course. Would you be able to accommodate us with this? We would need transportation to and from on the day. Very eager to hear back from you.
- Back-Roads TouringOperator•Written April 2023
We do visit the Isle of Mull on our Scottish Journey itineraries, however we are unable to offer personalised tours with transport. Our Trip Leaders do try to accommodate requests to see specific locations however I don't think we could squeeze all of the below into our 2 days on the Isle of Mull. If you are interested in booking A Scottish Journey, we are mostly sold out for July & August except for our 1 August departure which has some seats remaining.

Asked on March 9th, 2023How strict is your age limit? Two of us are over 80 (82 & 84). We are three sisters, traveling together. One (84 years old) requires her own room. Do you have two-bedroom suites? Or adjoining rooms? Is this a non-smoking tour?
- Back-Roads TouringOperator•Written March 2023
There is no restriction on age, however please be advised some tours do involve activities and day trips, so as long as you are mobile you will be fine. We offer twin/double or single rooms, unfortunately we do not have adjoining rooms or suites. All our tours are non-smoking.

Asked on November 19th, 2022Wondering the pace and how much walking is involved. My husband has limited stamina. Is there options if unable to walk the distance
- Back-Roads TouringOperator•Written November 2022
This tour involves a medium level of walking and would require a medium level of fitness. If your husband is unable to partake in some of the walking tours, there may not be an alternative to what he does. When you make a booking, we will require a Self-Assessment Form to be completed on your online Back Roads account. After the form is filled out, our operations team can assess if you husband would be fit for this tour.

Asked on May 18th, 2022Can you give me the specifics of where you stay on A Scottish Journey please
- Back-Roads TouringOperator•Written May 2022
We don't have the Hotels confirmed for this trip just yet unfortunately, but they are typically suited to the area you are staying in, and they are selected so that they are not typical or popular hotels. We will have the hotels confirmed a bit closer to the departure date
