- Day 1
Colombo to Negombo
You'll land at Colombo airport and meet your tour leader who'll handle the transfer to your hotel in Negombo. This coastal town has a nice golden sandy beach, but since there's nothing scheduled for today, you can show up whenever works and just settle in at the hotel.

Negombo to Wilpattu National Park
After breakfast, the drive takes you along the coast toward Wilpattu National Park. On the way, you'll stop at the Munneswaram Hindu temple complex, then head into Sri Lanka's largest national park for a 4x4 jeep safari where you might see leopards, crocodiles, and wild elephants. You'll stay overnight in Anuradhapura.

Anuradhapura
Following breakfast, you'll walk through Anuradhapura ancient city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest civilizations around. See the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi tree and the Ruwanweliseya monument built in 140 BC, then take a walking tour at Ritigala Forest Monastery for something more low-key. By evening you're in Sigiriya.

Sigiriya
Start with a relaxed breakfast and some Sri Lankan tea or coffee, then head to Sigiriya Lion Rock Fortress to catch the sunset from the top (it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site). After that, a cultural village tour with a tuk-tuk ride, catamaran crossing, and curry cooking at a farmer's house. An optional Ayurvedic massage is available back at your hotel if you want.

Sigiriya to Batticaloa
In the morning you'll head toward the Eastern Coast and Pasikudha, a city on one of the world's finest natural harbours. The white sand and gentle waves make it perfect for just relaxing and unwinding in that tropical beach setting. You'll spend the night in Batticaloa.

Batticaloa to Kandy
Travel to Kandy and check out the Temple of the Tooth Relic, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Later in the afternoon, walk around Kandy's city centre, then stick around for an evening cultural dance show with traditional Sri Lankan arts and heritage performances.

Kandy to Nuwara Eliya
You'll travel through lush tea plantations and see waterfalls on the way to Nuwara Eliya, a charming hill town with British colonial character. Visit a Gem Museum to see Sri Lanka's gems and jewelry work, walk through Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens, then stop at a working tea plantation and factory. The rest of the day is yours to explore Nuwara Eliya's colonial buildings and local markets.

Nuwara Eliya to Ella to Udawalawe
The train journey from Nanu-oya station to Ella village is one of the most scenic rides through the hill country you can take. Once there, see the Nine Arch Bridge and Mini Adam's Peak, both impressive local engineering feats. Later you'll transfer to Udawalawe and check in at your safari resort.

Udawalawe
Early morning 4x4 jeep safari at Udawalawe National Park is when you'll have the best chance to spot wild elephants, including babies playing by the main lake. Then visit the Elephant Transit Home to learn about orphaned calf care. Stop by Coconut Tree Hill in Mirissa for those turquoise ocean views, and spend the rest of the day relaxing on the golden sandy beach.

This day is yours to do as little or as much as you want on the beautiful sandy beaches of the south coast. Relax with a cocktail or beer under a palm tree, or try optional activities like a Madu River Safari, Galle Fort tour, diving, snorkeling, surfing, fishing, or deep-sea fishing.

South Coast to Colombo
After breakfast, head into Colombo, the capital with a long history as an important port in East-West sea trade. Check out the main attractions, do some last-minute shopping, and have a meal at a well-known restaurant. Then transfer to the airport for your flight home or head back to your hotel in Colombo or Negombo.
