Itinerary
- Day 1
Mollepata to Soray Pampa
Start early and drive three hours to Mollepata for a warm breakfast. From there, you'll take a truck or car along a scenic mountain road to Soray Pampa, where you're staying in a newly-built wood cabin or camping at the foot of two large mountains. Once you settle in, there's a hike up to a glacier lake with views of the mountains before heading back to camp for dinner.

- Day 2
Soray Pampa to Chaullay
Wake up early at the foot of Salkantay mountain and eat a hot breakfast while horses are loaded with gear. The trek starts early with gradual climbs toward the pass, and you'll have breaks for water and snacks along the way. You'll reach the pass at 4,660m/15,387ft where weather can be unpredictable and views are quite dramatic. After that, it's a steady descent for around 9 hours total through the high Andes with different vegetation and wildlife before arriving at Chaullay camp in the Salkantay Valley.

La Playa to Coffee Plantation
After an early breakfast, you'll hike between 4 and 5 hours along the Salkantay river through high cloud forest to La Playa, and you'll see varied wildlife and plants along the way. Lunch happens at the end of the hike, then a car takes you to a coffee plantation lodging. The afternoon and evening are yours to explore the plantation, where you can harvest, roast, and taste your own coffee.

Landmarks/POIs La Playa - Day 4
Coffee Plantation to Aguas Calientes via Machu Picchu ruins
Start with fresh local coffee and breakfast made from area foods like plantains, yuca, or avocados. You'll hike toward Machu Picchu using an ancient Inca trail section, climbing over a pass with views of the ruins and the peaks of Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu. Stop at the less-crowded Llactapata ruins before descending to a small lodge for freshly cooked lunch. Then it's down to the river where you'll board the 3pm or 4:35pm train to Aguas Calientes. Your guide checks you in at the hotel and gives you a briefing. Dinner is a full 3-course meal at one of the best local restaurants.

Machu Picchu
Get up early to see sunrise light up Machu Picchu. You'll hike up to the sanctuary for early views and to avoid crowds. Your guide takes you through a full tour of the ruins. If you requested it beforehand, you can climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain. After that, spend time exploring the site, taking photos, having snacks, or relaxing on the terraces. When you're done, take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes and board your return train to Cusco or Ollantaytambo where transport will be waiting.
