- Day 1
Victoria Falls to Hwange National Park
Your trip kicks off at Victoria Falls, which locals call 'Mosi-oa Tunya' or the smoke that thunders. You'll see why once you get there. From there, you'll drive into Hwange National Park, one of Zimbabwe's largest protected areas. This is where you'll get your first real look at the wildlife you've come for, and the diversity here is impressive with everything from elephants to various antelope species scattered across the landscape.

Hwange National Park
Plan on spending the entire day in Hwange National Park with your guide. You'll be in an open 4x4 vehicle, which gives you great visibility for spotting the Big Five and the other plains game moving around. Birdwatchers will find plenty to keep busy with too. Your guide will drive through different sections of the park searching for wildlife, so you're covering ground and stopping when something interesting shows up.

Matopos National Park
After breakfast, you'll head south toward Bulawayo. By noon, you'll reach Matopos National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2003. You'll spend time in the intensive protection zone where both Black and White Rhinoceros live. This is a significant spot for rhino conservation, so you're seeing some real conservation work in action while exploring the park's geography.

Great Zimbabwe Ruins
You'll travel to Masvingo today to see the Great Zimbabwe Ruins. At noon, a guide takes you through this historic site, which was once the capital of the Zimbabwe Kingdom. The stonework is intricate and tells a story about early Zimbabwean civilization. Walking through the structures gives you a sense of the sophistication that existed here centuries ago.

Masvingo to Bulawayo
After finishing up at Great Zimbabwe Ruins, you'll drive back toward Bulawayo, getting there around mid-day. Once you arrive, there's a guided tour of Bulawayo itself, covering the city's history. After that, you'll head to your hotel for the evening, where you can settle in for dinner and your final overnight stay.

Bulawayo Departure
