Arrival in Kampala
Your guide meets you at Entebbe airport and drives you to Kampala where you'll get your first real sense of Uganda. After settling into your guesthouse, you'll have time to rest and prepare for what's coming over the next week.

Kampala to Murchison Falls
Early morning departure from Kampala takes you toward Murchison Falls. Stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a guided walk to see these animals being brought back to Uganda, then grab lunch before heading to the top of the falls where the Nile crashes through a narrow opening. You'll reach your lodge outside the park by evening.

Murchison Falls National Park
Start before dawn for a game-drive hunting for lions, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, and more across the park's 76 mammal species. The morning takes you out to Delta Point for different wildlife and bird viewing. After lunch at a relaxed pace, you'll spend three hours on a boat ride up the Nile to the falls' base where hippos, crocodiles, and elephants gather along the banks.

Murchison Falls to Kibale Forest
After breakfast, the long drive toward Kibale Forest begins with several scenic stops including views of the Rift Valley, Lake Albert with Congo mountains visible on clear days, traditional villages, and tea plantations stretching across hillsides. You'll arrive late afternoon at your lodge right at the forest's edge where you can hear nocturnal animals and the forest's famous frog chorus at night.

Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Morning drive through the crater lakes region gives you chances to spot black and white colobus monkeys and red-tailed monkeys among the scenic landscape. By afternoon you'll reach Queen Elizabeth National Park for a boat-cruise on the Kazinga Channel where hippos, crocodiles, warthogs, and elephants congregate. Late afternoon arrival at your lodge allows for dinner and a calm evening.

Ishasha Sector
After breakfast, you head to Ishasha in the park's southern sector, known for lions that rest in fig-trees. Morning game-drive focuses on spotting buffalo, topis, and hopefully those tree-climbing lions. Then you continue toward Kisoro through bamboo forests and volcanic terrain, descending winding roads into this stone town as golden volcanic scenery comes into view.

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park to Ruhengeri, Rwanda
Morning drive takes you to the gorilla trekking starting point where a specialized guide leads you into the forest to find the gorillas. You'll spend one hour with a gorilla family before heading toward Rwanda. After crossing the border, the drive through Rwandan landscapes brings you to Ruhengeri where you'll stay the night.

Golden Monkey Trek
This morning focuses on golden monkeys. Your guide takes you to the trek starting point where a specialized guide leads through the forest for an up-close experience with these primates. After the trek ends, the rest of the afternoon is yours to relax and recover.

Ruhengeri to Lake Kivu
After breakfast you make the short trip to Lake Kivu, arriving by lunchtime. The afternoon is free to relax by the lake and soak in the surroundings. If you want to take a boat-ride on the water, it's available, but otherwise you can settle in with a book and enjoy the peaceful setting without scheduled activities.

Lake Kivu to Nyungwe Forest
Transfer from Lake Kivu to Nyungwe Forest takes you through rural Rwandan countryside with scenic views from your window the whole way. You'll check in at the guesthouse near the forest in the afternoon and spend the evening relaxed at your accommodation.

Chimpanzee Trek
Head into Nyungwe Forest this morning to trek for chimpanzees with a specialized guide through dense jungle habitat. The trek focuses on getting a good sighting and time with these primates in their natural environment. Return to the guesthouse after the trek finishes.

Nyungwe Forest to Kigali
Morning departure from Nyungwe toward Kigali takes you through the Rwandan countryside with scenic landscapes along the route. You'll arrive in the capital during the afternoon and check into your hotel with time to settle in before evening.

Kigali City Tour and Departure
A city tour of Kigali covers the genocide war memorial and crafts villages where Rwanda's traditions and culture come through in local work. Your guide shares history about Rwanda as a former French-Belgian colony and the events of the genocide. From here you'll transfer to the airport based on your flight time, ending the Uganda and Rwanda safari.
