Itinerary
- Day 1
Vientiane
You'll arrive in Vientiane and settle into your hotel, then spend the afternoon checking out the capital's main temples. Wat Sisaket has thousands of miniature Buddha statues lining its walls, and Wat Prakeo is just nearby. From there, head to That Luang Stupa and grab a photo at the Patuxay Monument before walking down to the Mekong riverside to catch the sunset.

- Day 2
Vientiane to Vang Vieng
Early departure heading north through rural countryside with mountains around you. The Thalat market is where hill tribe traders gather to do business, and it's quite colorful. You'll stop at the Vang Xang archaeological site from the 11th century before arriving in Vang Vieng on the Nam Song River with limestone cliffs all around. The afternoon is free for you to do what you like.

- Day 3
Vang Vieng to Luang Prabang
Morning takes you to Tham Jang caves about 2km out from town, which historically served as shelter during Chinese invasions. Later you'll cross the river to Ban Huai Ngai village to see how locals actually live. In the afternoon, you're heading to the train station for an express train ride to Luang Prabang that winds through scenic mountain territory. Once you arrive, you'll meet your guide and transfer to the hotel.

- Day 4
Luang Prabang
Start by visiting the former Royal Palace, now a National Museum with artifacts showing Lao history from early rulers through the last king. Several impressive temples get your attention today: Wat Visoun, Wat Aham, Wat Sene, and Wat Mai with its five tiered roof design. Later you'll climb 329 steps up Phousi Hill to see sunset views of the city and the Mekong reflecting the light.

- Day 5
Luang Prabang
Wat Xieng Thong sits where the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers meet, covered in gilded stucco work and featuring a large flame tree pattern made from colored glass mosaics. You'll cruise upriver on the Mekong to Pak Ou Caves full of gold lacquered Buddha statues. On the way back, stop at Ban Xang Hai to see rice wine production, then finish at the weaving village of Ban Phanom where you can shop and bargain for textiles.

Luang Prabang Departure
The morning is yours to wander Luang Prabang and check out the Central Market at your own pace. Later you'll transfer to the airport for a short flight back to Vientiane, then connect to your next destination.
